Every squad player at Warrington is dual registered with Swinton and upto 7 can play at any one time for them. So what is the difference between this and Gellings situation regarding visas etc.

It may be that someone at Wigan didn't read the rules correctly!

Wigan players are supposed to be dual registered with Leigh, but are they?

Are Wire and Leeds working within the spirit of the duel registration scheme.
Seems they are manipulating the rules to suit their needs. Duel reg was designed to give young up and coming players regular game time. I don't think the regulators ever expected players of 30 years age to be duel registered.
It's another cock up by our RFL administrators leaving too many loop holes for clubs to abuse.
As for Antony Gelling does his work permit/visa say he can only work (play) for Wigan and so cannot join another club for employment.

Yes, unless he applies for a new visa. IIRC, this has been the problem for Rangi Chase. He has a visa to play for Cas. To move to a new club would need a new visa which it seems unlikely to get in his new status of 'undesirable alien'!

I'd say OUR game is squeaky clean by comparison. We applauded BRITISH boxer Joe Bugner who was Hungarian. Zola Budd was South African. Greg Rudetski was Canadian. And they were all shite!

Fred Perry is the last true British champion I can come up with at short notice!

You have given the solution to this problem :o

Apply for a new visa and all is well again (unless you know some reason he is now classed in the same bracket as Chase)

Its an obvious solution. Not sure of the complexities involved but I'm sure that the club will have considered it in the context of his future!

I thought sporting visas were given so that a player could play the sport over here, not tied to a particular club to the extent you're saying. If he is dual registered, he'll still be an employee of Wigan and will be playing for another team on Wigan's behalf in theory?? The system is poor if a rugby player is given a visa because he is employed to play rugby and under that contract of employment he plays rugby.
