faith in wane
Re: faith in wane
So, I suppose after last night's game v Catalans, he (Shaun) is not a bad Coach after all?
Re: faith in wane
Therein lies your problem. I praise and criticise in equal measure whereas you changed your login and are afraid to dare criticise or make a prediction. Come on WW, grow a pair predict that Wigan will win a CC or SL GF this season.Whelley Warrior wrote:cpwigan
Do you have to be so negative all the time?

Madge arrived revolutionised the place and we started to win things. Players (E.G Deacs, Tommy) said they learned more FROM MADGE (Not Wane) in six months than they had in their whole career. Madge leaves, Wane given his head, success stops.
So Madge was totally incidental, meaningless.

Madge is a great coach as proved by 2 trophies for us and taking a no hope side like the Rabbitohs and turning them in to title challengers

Just in case I'm misunderstanding last season and the flak that's being directed to Mr Wane, didn't we win the League Leader's Shield? Is this not a trophy? Weren't we the highest points scorers in Super League history with the meanest defence?
Just like to be clear on these points.

I honestly don't know how you can come to those conclusions. As soon as Madge arrived the way the team played the game changed dramatically. It was as plain as the nose on your face they started to play the exact same style as Madge's former team down under and it had Madge's name stamped all over it.medlocke wrote:I believe that Wane actually had a bigger hand in the success that Madge brought us than others would have you believe, at the time i wondered this and now watching games and the overall results from last year make it even clearer in my mind, The way some fans on here and the other site rattle on about Madge is unreal, he was not the saviour of Wigan, he did have a hand in it but so did Wane, it was Wane that had worked with the youngsters including superstar Tomkins, yet because Madge is an Aussie he is seen as some Golden God in the eyes of some, Wane will show us the way, keep the faith in Shaun Wane
Madge Leaves and Wane gets the job full time and he changes the style of play away from that Madge brought and couldn't wait to do it.
Furthermore quite a few of the players in the teams Madge had who were pivotal to our success(Riddell, Richards, Gleeson, Carmont etc)didn't actually come through Wane's junior teams at all. Seven of the GF team in 2010 were from outside the club and eight in the 2011 CC success (nine if Mossop wasn't a Wane product).
The influence Madge had on the side stood out a mile.

That is what the stats say but everyone knows the LLS is the least prestigious trophy of the three. Whether it should be is another matter but it is.stevethegas wrote:Just in case I'm misunderstanding last season and the flak that's being directed to Mr Wane, didn't we win the League Leader's Shield? It is also clear IL measures success not by winning the LLS but by at least getting to finals and he really wants to get to the CC final as it is far more lucrative financially.
Wane could win the LLS three years in a row but if he doesn't at least get the team to Wembley once or to a GF he will IMO be out on his ear.

As I said elsewhere, it seems we should be ashamed when we win the LLS. It is like Hollywood's equivalent of the Grammy!DaveO wrote:That is what the stats say but everyone knows the LLS is the least prestigious trophy of the three. The LL hubcap means nothing. Wane, the players even said that. Whenever it came to sink or swim last season we lost. Again Wane and the players admit that.stevethegas wrote:Just in case I'm misunderstanding last season and the flak that's being directed to Mr Wane, didn't we win the League Leader's Shield? I hate the system used, one that renders nearly every fixture as meaningless. Some clubs even deliberately field weakened teams in order to blood youngsters, rest players etc. I suspect that one club virtually wrote off the last third of the season in order to prepare for the next. Time will tell.
Scoring a century of points in a single game, a thousand + in a season matters not one jot unless you win the CC and/or the SL GF.
Re: faith in wane
Wane needs GF or CC win to have any chance of exercising his option for a 3rd year.
Last year can be forgiven 1st as a SL coach but this year that luxury has rightly gone its his team his style and it needs to win trophies.
