I thought the new non-executive Chairman of the RFL was a media man of 40 years?
Well, your first - and most important - job is get a grip of the appalling way RL is treated by the media.
The phrase "Couldn't organise an orgy in a brothel" comes to mind.

If they are trying to avoid being overshadowed by other events and trying to get live TV coverage of the draw then they should be given time to sort that sort of stuff out. It isn't as though the 1/4s are just round the corner so there isn't really the rush. A press release to say somehting about they are looking to finalise a date and appropriate broadcast for the draw would probably have brough the same level of vitriol. We're all annoyed about what happened with the last two draws so wouldn't give any benefit of the doubt either way. I'm not saying they deserve such benefit, just that we would be slagging them about this either way.

Your probably right Mark about being damned if they did and damned if they dont. But surely this is not rocket science to get some dates together for a draw.The challenge cup playing dates are set into the fixtures so surely even before the start of the season they could present a list of dates the draws are being made on and agree terms with tv or radio in advance. Other sports manage this simply.Don't know about a reshake in the SL structure.Imo we should start with a clearout of all at RL headquarters and start again getting the correct people in who are going to take us forward.Because from where i am standing we are begining to look like a laughing stock.

Good point. I suppose they could argue they had that in place and were still forced out by Maggie's death and then embarrassed by the BBC show that aired the next draw. In the circumstances, taking stock and maybe finding someone better to organise and arrange this thing than had been put in charrge of the last two rounds is the way to go. No point making the same mistakes again, but they might not have had a plan B that they now need. Of course, any good organisation would have a plan B.

I assume / hope they will narrow the time down to a smaller window when there is a better understanding of the running order and news stories for that morning
