The forwards are not the biggest but they match it and have natural talent. Any room they make is exploited by some natural rugby players in the backs and very smart halves. Very encouraging :)
Best age group for a few seasons. The one above them had no depth and Ben Currie was snared by the Wire.
And all since IL became owner when at the time of his purchase, it was not up to the normal quality and standard.

The result being the bulk of the present first team squad and hopefully going even better in the next season or so.

The number of quality youngsters varies year after year. Under Whelan there were great years and very poor years. Likewise under Lenagan there have been great years and very poor years.

The people who deserve the credit are the amateur volunteer coaches and the attached 'scholarship' coaches.

He is one of a few outstanding prospects and Manfredi looks ready to step up a grade.

lol Manfredi is a slippery little bugger, against hull they couldn't keep hold of him he kept just getting out of tackles which would bring any player down. Like with Sam you can't teach that skill so looking forward to watch him develop

Come on, under Whelan the quality and standard was dropping and was rectfied by Leneghan when he took over with the result that more better own produced players are now in the first team squad and even more on the conveyor line.

The academies when Whelan was owner won several finals, one being held at the DW v Saints after several years of relinquishing home advantage!

Similar scenario as we have at the moment!!

Perhaps we need someone with bigger balls to stand up to Whelan

Snidy comment kitwazzer. His father was an International schoolboy centre who could offload in seemingly impossible situations. He was converted to a grafting tackling machine in the style of Roberts when we were developing the position/possession style of rugby and gave loyal service to the Club for many years

:exc: If this is the real Dennis McHugh he has forgotten more about RL than any of us will ever know.
