London Broncos lodge intention to appoint administrator
London Broncos have lodged their intention to appoint an administrator as attempts continue to keep the club afloat.
The Super League side are in danger of going into administration and are seeking a new venue after their eight-year groundshare with rugby union side Harlequins at Twickenham Stoop came to an end last season.
Most of the playing staff have now left the club, whose future remains uncertain.
But club officials issued a positive update on their attempts to find a new home and now have further time to secure their future.
"London Broncos Rugby League can confirm that today (Wednesday) its lawyers filed a further Notice of Intention to Appoint an Administrator at Court," read an official statement.
"This period will allow the club a further 10 working days to hopefully reach a solution to secure the club's future and allow it to fulfil next season's fixtures.
"Talks with interested parties are at an advanced stage.
"There will be no further comment at this stage."
Half-back Michael Witt recently became the 16th Broncos player to leave a side that only narrowly avoided coming bottom of Super League last season, leaving coach Tony Rea the difficult task of assembling a side for their opening match of next season at Widnes on 16 February.
