Craic from the ground was that Waney called the match off to protect the players from injury which is understandable considering the WCC. The referee apparently agreed with Waneys call and he made the decision to call it off.
Feeling from the town office was that they dont want a wigan reserve team playing so Tuesday woudnt go down well considering the wigan squad for Roby's testemonial.

Preccy wanted a game v a traditional RL area; Wigan see it as good business further developing their links with Cumbria which they have tried to develop in recent years; if the weather had been good, a nice pleasant journey part of the world; of course the inability to use the DW which interestingly looks in far worse condition when JUST the Latics are playing there than it does when Wigan RLFC play on it too (at a far etter time for grass growth / regeneration).

Two game in Yorkshire (Cas & Wakey IIRC) were also both called off due to rain / waterlogged pitches etc.
DW pitch will be a lot worse this year with all the games the Latics have had to play!

Surely, it would have made more sense for the Game at Leigh to have been Prescott's Testimonial game.

It might have improve the attendance!

Tbh having the Leigh game as the testimonial would of been ideal local game, easy to get to with excellent facilities
