This is the problem when the entire recruitment revolves around signing cheap players to replace experienced ones and then supplementing them with cheap, good youngsters. Cheap players from other clubs can do a job when coming into a good team with a strong culture and systems but what happens when these youngsters then get targeted too and this is getting eroded year on year?

Thanks for the update, have you got this from the horses mouth? If the NRL want him they will get him! Personally, I think he is worth a long-term deal, as is Hampshire. We need to manage the contracts with our youngsters better.

Sorry no a friend of his dads he has got some family out there, but I think it's a big ask for a young lad to be over there without some family I for one hope it don't happen because I think he will be a very good player lets see time will tell

He would be a better player still if he spent some time in the NRL feeder competitions before coming back to the SL. Its a worthwhile risk for the club to even give him a deal, then let him go to SYdney with first refusal when he comes back.

Was thinking the same. A vague rumour is being treated as fact by some. I would like more details on this one.
So since I posted the thread in the rumour mill, Williams received a 4 year deal AND Green announced he is to return to Australia. If you don't believe there was anything whatsoever in the Saints interest in Wigan's junior halves then you can bury your head back into the sand from whence it came and pretend all Wigan's juniors are happy waiting around for their one game in a million chance for first team action

No need to be so defensive. I can't speak for the other poster but I just wanted more info on this rumour before deciding it's a done deal because that's the way it was being spoken about with little background

BM, I wasn't suggesting that your post had no truth to it. Sutton I think is out of contract and therefore can sign for whom he wants - if I was representing him then I would be telling Wigan that I had several offers on the table in order to increase his contract offer. Rocky is slightly different in that he is under contract and therefore the club would demand a transfer fee if they decided to sell, which I don't think they will. Secondly, Can Saints raise the cash? The likes of Salford and Warrington could. I would expect all clubs to be interested in good players, Warrington made a big offer for Williams which was rejected and I would like to think that Wigan has courted young players at other clubs

Good ta Joe.

Likewise, if you go the youth route then you have to retain the very best ones and IMO Sutton is one of those.
