Got something to discuss about RL in general? Then this is the place to post it.

London Broncos finally got their first win of the season in a rollercoaster of a game which saw them come back from a first half deficit of 24-8 to snatch victory by scoring 20 points in the final quarter.
Teenage half-back Joe Keyes took the man-of-the-match award with a stunning hat-trick but this was a real team effort.

Head coach Joey Grima said: "To come back from that deficit that we gave Leeds Rhinos, it's hard to believe. It's really, really tough, given the season we've had and it's very hard not to get emotional. It's certainly one of the greatest wins that I've certainly been involved in in my coaching career.

"When I addressed them at half-time I challenged them to be mentally tough and I congratulated them for their mental toughness to grind out that game. Irrespective they had seven or eight of their better players out, they are a quality side and that showed out there in the first half."

Despite Leeds making nine changes from the team that beat Warrington last week in the Challenge Cup semi-final, the Broncos seemed to be heading for another big defeat when they conceded five tries in the first half, two of which were converted.

London replied with touchdowns from Jordan Atkins and Keyes but another converted try by the Rhinos two minutes into the second half to make it 30-8 seemed to herald another defeat. But the fight back began when Kieran Dixon, playing his first game of the season, finished off an initial break by Keyes with Nesi Mataitonga putting the wingman over in the corner.

Five minutes later Josh Walters was forced into touch to give the Broncos a good attacking scrum. Following a break by Scott Moore the ball was moved wide to enable Mike McMeeken to touch down. The conversions by Josh Drinkwater made it 30-20 but a try by Mitch Achurch converted by Liam Sutcliffe put Leeds 16 points ahead going into the final quarter.

The Broncos could have buckled but instead they turned in their best 20 minutes of the season. Moore finished off a break down the left, then Keyes darted over from dummy half and with Drinkwater again on target with the boot they trailed by just four points with 10 minutes remaining. A minute later Keyes collected his hat-trick with a dazzling solo effort and Drinkwater's conversion edged his side ahead 38-36.

He then added a penalty but in the final seconds the Rhinos looked to have salvaged at least a point when Kallum Watkins broke down the right and dived over in the corner as the hooter sounded. However, the touch judge had raised his flag for a foot in touch which sparked wild celebrations from the Broncos and their fans.

Speaking about the performance of Keyes Grima said: "Given that Joe hasn't had an off season in the past two seasons he's already playing above his maturity level. Given that we've had to throw him in at the deep end to lead a side around that hasn't been travelling terribly well puts on a lot of pressure and it brings a lot of people undone.

"Having watched him develop over the nine, 10, 11 weeks I've been in charge, it's certainly someone that you could build your club around. The good thing about Joe is he doesn't let it get to him, he's pretty casual and sometimes could be misunderstood because of his relaxed nature however, he's certainly got all the skill attributions offensively.

"They've got some world class outside backs and he just continued to put his body in front of those defenders. For an eighteen year old to score three tries against arguably one of the best outside backlines in the competition deserves credit."

Hardly a poor Leeds side! At least ten players there have played for the first team this season!

Six full Internationals in that Leeds side and can't say they didn't go for the win - they actually led by 22 points during the match !

Well that's 2 people taken in by their finesse. Having lost to Bradford and now London they obviously don't have a hope in Hell next week at Wembley!

Dear me cp - you miserable beggar. What a snide, unpleasant, negative comment. Do you ever think to say anything positive? Does your face crack if you smile? What a sad boring life you must have. If you can't find anything good to say about our great game then don't say anything at all - we don't want to hear the opinion of such a churlish misery.

For my part, well done London! Leeds may have been at less than their best, but so what? You can only play what's in front of you.

I am passionate about anything I have an interest in and I will speak out be it in a room, face to face or in print.

In 30+ years of following RL I have yearned for a Great Britain RL to stand up and finally surpass Australia. It has never happened. Moreover, I ask myself when, if ever will it happen when I see results like this.

Balance was feeling glad for London, saddened when some of the so called best players this country supposedly has to offer cannot beat relegated, winless London. The rationale?

Many would argue Hardaker; Briscoe, Watkins, and Hall should/could be 4 of our 5 GB outside backs. Yet is 4 GB / Some apparently world class players cannot cut the mustard v London what chance will we ever have of surpassing Australia?

Lest we forget so called seasoned SL players / an NRL player or two even and even internationals in Aiton, Bailey Achurch, Kirke and Clarkson.

EVEN better some of the cream of English you RL and hailed as future full internationals; Handley, compared to Hall!
Sutcliffe Represented England U16’s and then England Youth in 2011. White 2010-11 represented the England Youth team.
Singleton Captain of the England Schools U16 side, 2011 named as the England Academy captain Ward 2009 part of the England youth squad, 2010 represented England Academy, 2011 England Academy v Australian Institute of Sport, 2012 selected to play for England Academy for the tour to Australia. Minchella 2012 England Academy, Current England Youth international Golding 2013 England Academy.

SO I suggest ANYBODY who cares about RL in this country would be saddened that Leeds crammed full of current and future internationals could not put London to the sword.

If OUR best are so bad what hope is there of ever toppling Australia?

Oh I forgot Walter Mitty told me

CP, that's sometimes just down to it being Sport - if everything was so predictable all the time, who'd be interested !

Compared to the NRL, it's still possible that we are making some progress but that the NRL with all it's resources goes forward even faster ?

Steve, the poor fellow is still living in the great days of Central Park, hence the negativity of today's game.

Many of us still loyal, but now ancient supporters have moved on!

They DIDN'T but do you seriously believe they COULDN'T?

Do you also seriously believe James Lowes has worked the magic on a relegated Bradford to such an extent that they are good enough to beat both GF favourites in consecutive weeks?

For someone who professes to be the world's most knowledgable expert on Rugby League, your naïveté astounds me!

Have to agree with your point Kitt

I mean what person seriously does not think Leeds had one eye on next week's Challenge Cup Final.

Call the comp crap and the game a farce BUT the crux is a major final 6 days later and both teams involved in that final had more pressings things to concentrate on than just 2 points
