These games will kill rugby league, it's bad enough having to travel to Widnes on a Thursday evening, but hull.
Think you are correct there.

It's the four at home that bother me. That is four poor attendances at the DW relative to what they might have been.

Ironically for me they are better in that the M56/M6 are quieter on a Thursday than a Friday but that said I prefer the chance of som atmosphere.
Haven't we only got Wire and Leeds at home on a Thursday?
With Salford, Wire, Wakefield and Hull as the Thursday away trips.

And the two home games should be well attended.

Plus I've read that Wigan are reportedly in dispute with SKY as they want us to switch the derby match to Thursday as they want to screen the Hull derby on Good Friday.

If that rumoured shift comes off it would mean our 3 biggest home games of the season being shunted to a Thursday night.

Sadly for me this is the straw that breaks the camels back and it's highly likely I won't renew my season ticket.

I love supporting Wigan but Thursday night games aren't for me, going to the game for me is part of my weekend and SKY have now taken that away. I don't want to think about getting up for work the day after a game, selfish I know but it's me who has to fork out £200+ for my season ticket.

Looks like it'll be a Wigan TV subscription from next season to keep up to date with the team.
If we don't play the biggest (only official) derby on it's traditional Good Friday Spot, that will be a huge knife in the gut. (I still haven't got over not having a Boxing Day Derby) :eusa7: :eusa7:

Well 22000+ still turned up in 2009 when it was played on the Thursday night rather than on Good Friday. Obviously the game was televised but I can't remember if it was moved to the Thursday for Sky or by the club for other reasons (e.g. pitch/Latics).

But the fixtures have the Hull derby on the Thursday night anyway as it stands.

I had a big falling out with Mr Lenegan the last time we had to switch from Good Friday to Thursday, that was because of the football playing on the Saturday tho!

We didn't speak to one another again for well over twelve months

It was because Wigan were playing in Perpignan on Easter Monday 2009 wasn't it. I remember we flew out on Good Friday morning and watched the Hull derby over there.

Suppose with the Thursday game dates being released this far in advance, at least allows you to plan them in. It's when they decide at the last minute that drives me mad.

Changing the Good Friday fixture for me is a sacrilege, don't care what the reason is. Well done Josie for giving IL a good bollock?ng for allowing it back then.

Was it really then? We went & stayed in Perpignan & everywhere was shut!

I'm almost sure at the fans forum he said it was to accommodate the latics & I told him he was a weak man allowing Whelan to make him break a 100 year old traditional fixture.

I'm sure cp was at that meeting too :conf:

But knowing my memory you're probably right. I could have sworn it was a May bank holiday Monday :eh:
