+1
although I will be at Dewsbury today
Me too John
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
Shame when this sort of thing happens but can't really disagree with anything that's been said already. End of the day we're a group of, mostly, strangers who have one thing in common and that is their love of rugby league in general and Wigan RL in particular. I reckon between us we could come up with one hell of a list of things that are spoiling our great game and it's been going on for some time now. One of the things that started the downslide for me was when they moved the Challenge cup from May to August.
It had always been something I looked forward to with excitement and it was a good format with a nice day out at Wembley in early May before the teams got on with the rest of the season. Now it's like it's some kind of inconvenience that has to be slotted in on random dates that make no sense at all - why couldn't they have left it with the final in May and put the Magic weekend on in June? Spreads the expense a bit apart from anything else. They even maul about with the TV coverage now with some on Sky and some on BBC and don't even start me off about the commentary.
For me though I feel the double humiliation of the World club challenge hurt the most. One game was bad enough but three is way too much especially the way our teams seem to chop and change more than the Aussies although maybe that is because they don't have as many average players as we do. It's great to see the likes of Johnathan Thurston and all those other superb players but I think I'd rather watch them on Premier sports than have them come over here every year to show us up and humiliate us.
It's sad, very sad but I don't see the current management of the RFL doing anything to make things better anytime soon
Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

There's the odd game when we see just how entertaining RL can be, otherwise it's pretty poor fare. Even the young kangaroos v young kiwis was poor.
As for answers, think the interchange rules have brought us to this point and need a rethink.
Reduced interchange would be great and savagely! Try to bring back unpredictability with perhaps bal stealing and maybe even competitive scrums (not a great fan of scrums but needs must). More stringent / frequent sin bins for time delay tactics? Much faster POTBs ? Kick and regather in your own half = repeat set? It was happening lopng bwefore then Meds but it was okay if you were the dominant team as many teams ere less well coached; NOW all better coached at the basics, certainly at negative plays, referees afraid to penalise for spoiling the so called entertainment.
Hoping today is better BUT yesterday seemed so slow, so unadventurous and plain boring. V Dewsbury? you will probably see some nice tries as there should be a gulf in class / ability but we need to make the game more entertaining when the teams are both of a similar standing.
I watch Garswood Stags most Saturdays. Last week I went to watch Orrell St James's. Still love watching Wigan but got to say I get more pleasure from the amateur game.

You have said everything I think OJ.
I have been watching RL for over 60 years and I am becoming bored with a lot of what I see - albeit on 'tele so no atmosphere. Even that seems to be missing these days. Some games you can't hear the crowd!
I was starting to think I was suffering from "everything was better when I was Lad syndrome"!
Still love the game though!!!!!
