The one proviso is that I'd go with is an 80 min hooker. Sam's game now is providing relentless power down the middle. Props can interchange but our 9 is giving us that power as he's up with the pace of the game for the whole 80.
Agreed, the big difference is for me is that Powell can stay on the pitch pretty much all day and night if asked whereas MM was being changed out regularly before the injury.

Its made a difference to the side.

Now everyone seems scared to take him out of the no 7. I am sure i was told that George had always played at 7 through his career ( if i am wrong dont hang me) and now he's playing stand off. It's not a case of dropping players it just makes sense to me to rest players as the game is so demanding. The more players you keep fit, the more chance you have of winning tophies in my opinion
Tommy was poor at 7 during his first stint with us and was better at hooker, however since he has matured and played more in the halves again he has come back a much better halfback so i dont see what moving him to hooker when we have a guy playing excellent there achieve's when Sam is the only one out of the lot who has no form.

If injuries hit then yes i agree we shift about, but look at all the most successful teams and they have one thing in common - a consistent spine. 1,6,7,9 and 13. If you keep a consistent spine you are far more likely to succeed

this myth really annoys me every time for some reason.

MM can play 80 minutes and always Wanted to (he says it in a few interview on wigan tv as well. Wane is the person who makes them split 40 minutes each, probably to do with giving Powell game time (which probably enable Powell to get the experience to cover us so well in MM absense.

MM was and is an 80 minute hooker and did it in many big games comfortably and was a big part in us winning those games. SW was the one that interchanged him regular because at the time he knew how vital he was to us and couldn't afford him getting injured with only an inexperienced Powell as an option. However, now Powell is a fantastic hooker within his own right I think SW might opt for them both playing 80 minute games rather than a regular interchange, having said that will MM be the same player after his horrific injury, I certainly hope so!!

Does MM have the same range of passing as Powell? The other night on Sky they were highlighting, astutely I thought, how Powell's range and speed of passing gives Tommy and George so much time and space to work in. I really do wonder whether we will be less of a side without Powell in it.

On Tommy, I had assumed that he would slip into hooker, but he has been so good at 7 that I would not do so. it shouldn't come as a surprise of course as he was picked by the Warriors and New Zealand in the halves, but he looks the best all round half back in the competition (alongside the best 6). Plus, it is so good to have his cut you in 2 tackling back...

I guess we will find out when he is back from injury whether he is a better option than Powell, time will tell as they say!!

Who are you going to drop? Tommy or George? :o :o
Tommy to rotate at hooker, Sam at 6, George at 7, le petit Monsieur at FB.
Tommy, Sam and Mac fighting for the hookers shirt? I could only see Tommy at 9 if Micky Mac is unfit through continued injury.
