I don't think I have ever seen Hudds come to the DW and play any other way. They have the knack of turning an exciting sport into pure tedium.
We wanted to score on every play instead of building pressure.
A throwback to previous seasons then. We have been very patient this season when we have had lots of pressure but little to show for it. Looks like they forgot the game plan.

It didn't help that we had to play several players who were not fit. However, given our injury situation Waney had little choice but select them.

It was a point lost for me.
I stated at the time we got the penalty around the hour mark to both the guy next to me and a mate on the other side we should have gone for the kick. Huddersfield had been put on a warning for lying on in the tackle and at 14-16 the kick would have brought us level and hence a psycho boost.
All that occurred later re. the sin bin I had stated could happen and the penalty we scored later would have been the winner.
It was Huddersfield's cup final as such and as they always do they brought us down to their level. We always seem to have to grind a result out against them at home but fortunately my disappointment walking off the DW was short lived after the Salford win.

In the world of " what if's" we possibly could have gained 2 points. In the real world we in fact only gained 1 point. no brainer really so why the equivocation anyone with the 11 plus shouldn't have needed to ask the question. ????????

I think the team felt they were on top at that point and with Huddersfield on the team warning they couldn't do the only thing they were able to that was slowing is down. Problem though was play selection on that set was terrible. The way we had been attacking this year would have given them confidence they could score, but in hindsight given how badly the set went and how poor our close to the line attack was on the day, we should have taken the kick at goal.

But then Huddersfield would have gone for two on a penalty later on and hypothetically you get the same result, so that one decision in isolation isn't why we drew this game.

A point gained without any shadow of a doubt for me. To go in to the game missing 10 players is hard enough but then to lose two more in the first 7 or 8 minutes on a heavy pitch against a fired up side is a tick for me. Yes we didn't play particularly well but I think there are some reasons behind that.

The focus will need to be a lot better on Friday though. We're playing a much better team and a team that looks to be fully fit (we need some tips from them given their injury record this past couple of years). I think we'll do well to keep the score close tbh but as long as the efforts there we can't grumble too much.

I passed a comment on how I saw it at the time and given the unlikelyhood you went to the game I'm not taking any pontificating from someone who can't see any farther than the end of his nose, literally or otherwise! :thum:
