Be surprised if Hamlin was selected before Joel.
Agree that there'll be no place for Forsyth.

Is Wells injured? A bit disappointed not to see him or Navarrette in the squad to challenge the established players.

On the point of SOL its been done on numerous occasions but it is still disappointing not seeing him for the first game, when I browse around other clubs squads and see them all with their strongest squads.

As good as he is and without doubt our leader I am fed up with all these ongoing pulls\strains, maybe after the world cup he should have called it a day.

Anyway onto Salford and lets see if all the renewed optimism is justified, I hope so. I do sense a determined squad but last season is still fresh in the memory

Wells has a broken bone in his foot.

Forsyth and Hamlin to miss out I think. I'd prefer to see Hamlin get a go though.

The good news is Lockers will play in Australia but will need 3 weeks to recover before picking up a niggle that needs 10 weeks recovery

Lockers must have a third degree muscle strain or otherwise this injury would have cleared up. On the other hand Waney might be wrapping him in cotton wool and bringing him out for the bigger games.

I had thought that Wane would last to Easter, but given how we are already locked into the downward spiral of 1) preventable soft tissue injuries, 2) infinite recovery periods (Lockers and Manfredi) and 3) ridiculously timed operations (Bateman), we could well lose our first 3 games and be in crisis before Easter. Judging by the ineptitude of the back room staff and the stone age training methods which made the last few years mostly second team rugby masquerading as first team matches, we can expect 2 injured players per game (and that's ignoring the damage to bodies caused by long haul flights and jet lag) with 10 out again by Wire.

What was the definition of insanity again?

The sooner he goes of course, the sooner we can get a modern coach with competent back room staff.

Bateman and O'Loughlin, as far as I know, have injuries from the world cup.

Wells and Burgess, as far as I know, picked up injuries in the Leigh game.

Manfredi has his long standing knee injury that was from August last year (and July the year before).

I can't see that the Wells, Burgess or O'Loughlin injuries can really be the subject of much criticism to the club (what's the alternative with Lockers, to let him go? He's had calf problems for ages and both England and Wigan medical staff and presumably outside specialists haven't fixed it).

The timing of Bateman's op, one that rules him out of round 1, is curious and disappointing if it's something we could have made sure he had sooner. Does anyone know more about the circumstances around that?

Maybe with Manfredi, he came back too soon or something, so that can be something our club need to be questioned over if that's the case.

all correct i was just stating we had 5 out for whatever reason......... i think last season it was the backup players injuries that really hit us hard imo
