More than ever convinced that IL told SW that his contract would not be renewed. He did the same with Brian Noble before bringing in Michael McGuire (and his merry men, lest we forget).

But he has a point. I remember saying to a close relative of his that I only hope he goes when the going is good and not by being sacked for poor performances. If he was sacked he may struggle to find another job and end up doing who knows what. Its obviously a reference to Graeme West who you would have always thought would have be offered a job within he club.

But i'm made up he's gone now and got him himself a great position with a national team and doesn't have to leave the country. Well almost not.

He'll still be welcomed back to the DW for big games and that's great for him.

I was told about this months ago so nice to have it confirmed.
I'm sure he had it in the bag before resigning

First of all, I don't see how they "signed" him off us because he resigned but whatever.

This bit of the article made me laugh:

"Scotland Head Coach, Gregor Townsend said: “There is a lot we can learn from Shaun in both the technical side of the game as well as wider aspects of coaching. The range of skills now needed across the pitch in rugby union, aligned with the style of play we are developing means that all our players have to be able to pass accurately and deploy effective lines of running that will either hold defenders or find space. What Shaun brings from rugby league is immediately transferrable and will add real value.”

Lack of most of that is why we need a new coach.

Smart move for Wane though. I don't think how he has had Wigan playing these last few years would have any top flight clubs after his services so a life of driving taxis beckoned.
He's still under contract and effectively an employee, so they have signed him from us.
As for you sneeringly seeming to take delight in the thought of him ending up driving taxis, have you even a clue as to what his job was prior to becoming assistant coach at Wigan?

The fact is that he'll be remembered for a long time at Wigan, especially because of his achievements, were as you won't be.

. Couldn’t you just wish him Good Luck.?
IMO he has actually taken the club backwards so given I am just glad he's leaving that would be hypocritical.
I agree with you Dave he has taken us backwards to the point our crowds are dropping.

Any luck he now gets after leaving us i could not care any less.

I agree, totally unnecesary.

The crowds are dropping because of the Super 8’s & Thursday night fixtures IMO

We get to July & have no idea what the rest of the seasons fixtures will be!

And Thursday nights! It makes no never mind to me, same as when we played on Monday nights, but people who are working find it difficult to plan shifts etc & those with children? Who will take school kids to Huddersfield on a Thursday when they have school the next day?

It’s about time we got back to how it used to be televised games Friday & Saturday, other fixtures Friday evenings, Saturday & Sunday afternoons.
