Its almost a full squad other clubs must be like kids in a toffee shop wondering which ones to pick :conf:
All these players have played a major part in the academy this season and should be very proud of themselve (I know I am), they are a very close bunch so it would be good if some of them stayed together.
I do know that one club is looking at four of them.
Good luck lads.

Thats alot to be losing, seems a shame our under 21's must be good as we finished top of the league and the same for the under 18's. Just shows how good our youth development is.
Shame we let the better ones leeave
We can't keep the squad together though as they get older.
I don't know how old these lads are but if they reach 21 there are only two options for the club. Offer them a first team contract or let them leave.
They are all getting older together so to speak so it is inevitable the club faces a problem of what to do with several of these players. They can't absorb the entire U21 squad into the first team.
So some will leave to other clubs who feed off our clubs hard work while others the club will hang to. You just have to hope they keep the best ones.
I think if there were no salary cap and 20/20 a few more might have been offered a deal to stay. Not many more as where are they going to play if they reach 21 and are not good enough for the first team?
If the RFL still operated an Aliiance side, which was basically a first team reserve grade side then it just would not be a problem like it is.

Are you sure, James Coyle and Liam Colbon are being released? I wasn't told that they were!

Any reason why you should've been told?

The four academy lads that were being looked at by the same club have ALL been offered first team contracts with a rival Yorkshire club.
The offers are on the table and all of them are weighing up their options because it's still early days.

Don't think it is fair to name them at the moment as they haven't signed but when they do I'll let you know.
But there is so much going on for the lads at the moment with a lot of clubs showing an interest in a lot of them plus the pressure is on them to go out on a high from Wigan.

I thought Colborn had a 2 year contract which has another year to run.
Also, why did Danny Speakman not get the PoY award in favour of James Coyle if Coyle is also being released. I thought the club didn't want Danny to get the award becasue they would be embarrased when they later released him?
Are you sure that some of these guys aren't leaving the U21s and being brought into the first team squad? (not that I know anything about this at all)

Can't be very many...quite a few of them can command salaries in excess of £20k elsewhere, which we can't pay because of the 20/20 rule. Our 20 looks pretty much set, with the new signings, even assuming that the Wild/Aspinwall rumours are correct.
You're correct in thinking that Colbon has another year under contract (as does Wild), but we all know how binding (or not) contracts are, these days!
There's a list on
www.cherryandwhite.co.uk showing existing contracts, but I'm not sure how accurate it is..it still shows Carney & Guisset contracted to October next year.
One thing that does worry me, though, is the amount of contracts up at the end of next season...a high proportion of our "senior" players, including Rads, Tickle, Moran, O'Loughlin, Newton (?!).
