Peet on Wigan TV says O'Neill will start the game with Shorrocks as back up.

That is far too sensible, TBH if O'Neil didn't get a run now then when? Also some really good talent coming up with Pinder and Forber.

Shorrocks could play 9 I actually think he could be good there given time.
He could but it's about as good an idea as playing Bateman at centre.

Doing that sort of thing is why we ended up with Powell at 9 so if we want to carry on with the recent tradition of having average hookers, Shorrocks at 9 is the way to go.

If O'Neil can't get a game at 9 with Powell suspended he will surely soon realise has no future here and he'd be better off elsewhere.

A good opportunity for O'Neil and Halsall.

My guess at the squad - Field, French, Halsall, Thornley, Marshall, Cust, Smith, Singleton. O'Neil, Byrne, Bateman, Farrell, Smithies. - Mago, Havard, Ellis, Shorrocks.

From what Peet says they'll see how O'Neil goes doing 80 and if he's getting gassed he'll be spelled with Shorrocks. Seems sensible to me.

Exactly. And what's the problem with that?

Wigan Warriors vs Salford Red Devils: Team news, match preview and score prediction

Wigan made a statement on Monday after losing on Good Friday. They ran riot against Wakefield scoring nine tries many of which could have been described as world class.

Against an out of form Salford, they’ll be hoping to underline their attacking potential yet again tomorrow.

Salford meanwhile have struggled to recapture their early season form and need a boost here against the Warriors to get their season back on track.

Team News

Of course, there will be no Zak Hardaker for Wigan this weekend. In fact, it now transpires that we’ve seen the last of Hardaker in a Wigan shirt following his release from the Warriors just yesterday. The Warriors will also be without the suspended Sam Powell in a major blow for Matt Peet’s men whilst Thomas Leuluai’s long-term injury makes matters worse for the Warriors moving forward. There is positive news on Iain Thornley and Liam Marshall who both return.

The Red Devils are still without Tim Lafai, Deon Cross, Shane Wright and James Greenwood. Ryan Lannon is also absent leaving extra pressure on the second-row positions with Paul Rowley’s first three options unavailable.

Match Preview – Key Battles:

Jai Field vs Ryan Brierley: Ryan Brierley is a very competent and well-rounded attacker with skill and support play. He’ll have to be at his absolute best to better the electric and dangerous Jai Field. Field has been superb all season and his pace makes him almost unstoppable.

Bevan French vs Ken Sio: Speaking of dangerous pace, Bevan French alongside Field showed that the pair could devastate any team. Salford will need to keep him quiet in defence. As for in attack, they will want to get the ball in the hands of the prolific Ken Sio if they want to out score the Warriors.

Cade Cust vs Marc Sneyd: Marc Sneyd is Salford’s central hub and he’ll be looking to boss things here. The Red Devils will need him to be at his best but up against the always improving Cade Cust he could find it tough to impose on the game.

Where the game will be won and lost:

Space is the magic word against Wigan. You cannot allow the Warriors, specifically Field and French, any space. Otherwise they’ll devastate you. If Salford can stay in the game, they’ve shown on a number of occasions that they can snatch something at the end.

Score Prediction: Wigan Warriors 34-12 Salford Red Devils
