Deacon is bereft of creativity. If you analyse the Bulls attacking play they literally had to batter teams into submission to score tries and then they tend to be individual runs from Hape or the Volcano.

Gilmour, Wilde, Wilkin, Johnson better than Tickle :o

If you wamnted to be bold you would include both Cooke and Horne. As it stans Horne will be on the bench I daresay
We haven't had a quality GB stand off for years...which is why players like Farrell and Sculthorpe have been selected to play out of position there in the past. We have similar problems at scrum half - when our best (fit) halves are, supposedly, Harris, Deacon, Burrow & Horne, you know we're in trouble. Even the inclusion of Long & McGuire wouldn't help that much.
Compare the strength in those positions for the Aussies...any of about 12 players would be ahead of our candidates.

I believe Tickle withdrew from England, but agree Cooke's omission seems daft.

It's one of the news items on here. Doesn't say why, just that Tickle and Hansen have withdrawn. Can't say that I'm too uspet about it either. The more rest they have the better IMO.

Probably correct, Rob, though I thought he did OK in the GF against Leslie V.

IMO this is just further evidence that Noble is hoping to keep the score down rather than trying to win and further justification for me watching from the living room/pub rather than throwing my money away yet again. :(

I think GB are in trouble with the current squad. Problem as was mentioned is the half backs. Harris has the skills but he doesnt produce when it matters, if you ask me he's put on too much weight since union and it taken a touch of pace off him. Having guys like burrown and horne against johns and lockyer is almost having the youth team against the senior team in terms of quality. Another couple of maguires need to come off the production line........

In a way it's a thankless job selecting the GB Squad. No matter what players Brian Noble selects we (the fans) will always have our own personal preferences. There are players that I would have liked to see in the squad and others omitted, I would rather have Bailey in and Fozzard out for eg. But at the end of the day I am british and fiercly loyal and come the night of the match I will be shouting as loud as anyone, we could put a team of absolute biffers out and I would still support them. Just hope we dont get any injuries, because apart from a reasonably strong first 13 we haven't got much back up, if any at all.
