Some really good potential with Walters and Chan. We definitely need one more experienced prop yet and if we get that, the jobs a good un. In time I’d love to think we’d have a chance of getting Joe Chan to join his brother at the club. He’s playing reserve grade for Melbourne at the moment but I thought he looked a hell of a player when he was at Catalans.

Don’t know much about him to be honest, just have to see how he goes. He’s not very big at under 100kg and quite young, with walters signing I’m not sure we need another project prop, we need an older pack leader if you ask me. If I’m way off the mark with this one please enlighten me, can’t say I’ve ever seen Chan play.

Chaka comes from good rugby league stock and given he is federation trained (I think) it is a bonus. I agree that it would be good to see his brother return from the NRL. Waney’s fingerprints are all over these current signings.

I think Sam Walters may just have it in him to become that. Plenty of size and aggression

Andy Platt was on the small side for a prop but he was one of the best I have seen. Size is an advantage but technique and explosive running can more than compensate. Chan and Walters will fill out in the next few years.

Yeah mate I get size isn’t everything and I hope he does well. I thought we had highlighted that against teams with big forwards that we lacked size though so we was going to be try to sort that out.

Great signing. His relative can always offer him valuable advice.
I have supported Wigan RL since the late 80s. First game was a cup tie v Barrow. Also a fan of football and Speedway. Have a varied taste in music.

We do lack size mate, but size needs to come with explosive power. Give me a 16 stone prop who dents the line rather than an 18 stone prop that ambles towards the defensive line.

I don’t really like to be negative about a new signing, but he’s very small for a prop.
1.85m, & 98 kg.
Smithies is 1.85m, & 106 kg. And we keep. Saying he’s too small.
