Hang on a minute, what's all this negativity. Been reading too many tabloids and listening to people going on about non existent binge drinking. They are organising a wander round the town that just happens to involve the local beverage suppliers. Can't see the harm in that. Hands across the water and all that, meet the locals.

I think the point that is being made is its ery different to have physical game with abit of a kick off on the field.
But it is never acceptable for fans to be fighting, it looks bad on the British and the sport.

I hope this doesnt start happening this is what puts it in a different league to football and the trouble the english cause while abroad when watching the football is what gives the brits a bad reputation.

How ever if we lose, burn Perpignan to the ground :sly: (jokes)

Unless you mean on the pitch fair enough, but ill give you and anyone some advice if you want a battle with the Locals in France, particularly After whats been going on in Paris. The police lets say are employing "zero tolerance" and have very itchy trigger fingers irrespective of who it is and where it is in there country.Ive just got back from Paris and believe me it is not a happy romantic place at the moment so dont expect anything different in the South.
It is worth remembering that French police are routinely armed, and have never been particularly pleasant to foreigners so it's best not to upset them if at all possible. I had to suffer a higher-than-normal-number of stop-and-search checks whilst living over there, as I was very clearly not French and therefore an easy target for intimidation.

Showing your soccer mentality - spoken by someone who has probably never had a fight outside of the playground.

With the exception of an incident in the Challenge Cup between Leeds and Hull (I think) a few years ago - rugby league is refreshing free of this sort of small minded idiocy.

If you want to fight join a boxing or MMA club - there you can find out what fighting is really like. Street fights between rival gangs normally involve someone trying to land a punch when the recipient is arguing with someone else; after which several other people join in by kicking the downed person in the head.

If you can't see what's wrong with that then I can't tell you

I'm not really sure what your point is here. Your earlier posting mentioned "itchy fingers" and "zero tolerance" policies, you're presumably hinting at a shoot first, ask questions later policy. I was merely mentioning that, unlike in the UK, almost all police in France are usually armed, and that can be a bit intimidating if you're not used to seeing that. Even after living there for a year it was still something of a shock to see a guy directing traffic with a revolver strapped to his waist. However, I've not heard that they are routinely shooting troublemakers, which is what you are suggesting but which would have certainly have hit the headlines. From memory Perpignan doesn't have a particularly high group of colonial immigrants, unlike Paris, Marseille, Lyon etc, and is less likely to have experienced the troubles than some of the larger cities. I suspect the police will adopt their usual imtimidating stance towards troublemakers, but I don't think we need to start preparing body bags.
