Super League in talks over staging regular season games in USA

Got something to discuss about RL in general? Then this is the place to post it.

They really like their World Series, Super Bowl etc. so they can call themselves World Champions. Irony is only they have the top teams and players

It's ironic they complain about the Saudi PIF buying golf players and destroying the game. The irony is PGA did the same to the European Tour

Yanks wants control and neither code of rugby will work over there

Some Aussie con man suckered the RFL into it. It was boiling and the players didn't have proper time to acclimate to the altitude and half the crowd thought they were watching the All Blacks which is why they came.

Until we put the effort into growing the game in our own country, we shouldn't bother with other countries. You can't conquer everest if you haven't conquered your own back yard

You pick the markets with the biggest opprtunity IMO. Why try to "crack" very tough markets closer to home if you believe easier and more lucrative niches exist elsewhere?

Fair enough if you think the easiest opportunities exist in communities with centuries-old ties to existing sports and clubs, and not in markets that are well used to new franchises of exciting new sports appearing in their area.

Whilst we may be flogging a dead horse in the US, we have to be careful as a sport that we don't just sit back and let other sports, women's football, netball etc. take over any potential market shares in TV rights.

Whilst not a comparison from a sporting point of view, from a viewing aspect we need to keep trying to expand into different markets, if other up and coming sports take over the viewing slots it leaves our sport in a difficult position to expand, either at grass roots level or from a TV perspective.
