France v England (spoilers)

Got something to discuss about RL in general? Then this is the place to post it.

Who else could we play mid season?

The way I see it is that it’s a game against the French or nothing for mid season.
Lancashire Vs Yorkshire every year would be good. Make it almost like a trial match for England. Even playing the exiles would be better

I thought it would be a good opportunity for Wigan TV to get a captive audience ???

It's good for the French to test themselves at least, and give us a clear indication that one French team at the elite level is not enough to develop enough French talent to bring their national team to the required level. We need to support Toulouse or whoever to enable them to develop to SL standards.

Lanca v yorks were rubbish games and very poorly supported.

The last one in 2003 attracted a crowd of 8.2k. Not a great crowd, granted, but it was live on Sky and way over double the attendance from yesterday.

With a bit of marketing it could definitely be worth doing.

I’m currently in Toulouse after watching the game, Toulouse Rugby Union Team were celebrating winning there domestic league after hammering Bordeaux 59-3 at the same time the match kicked off so any chance of supporters getting a rugby fix was massively diminished.

You’ve answered your own question really, simply don’t have a mid season game you learn nothing from it other than how to count the score this game is meaningless for the prep for Samoa and god forbid the Aussies so why bother just have a camp

Lancs v Yorks would not really work from an England point of view as you would have the team split on either side and the point of these kind of games is to find the best 'fit' for the team, not just have a run out against each other, Exiles would be better if not the French

Exiles would be a better contest than the French, for sure. But it'd be another chance for Field and French to risk injury!
