I think French is the finest overseas back we have had since the 80s in terms of his top end brilliance, all round excellence and extraordinary consistency. I also think Wardle is the best centre we have had since Connolly, and that Marshall is the finest winger week in and week out for a very long time. What is extraordinary about these players is that, Thompson aside, none of them came to us as 100% world class players. Their levels of performance are down to the club, and Peet in particular. In a funny sort of way it makes our current genius levels of brilliance even more satisfying than when we used to buy in ready made world class stars.
Bevan is a joy to watch!!

Hes definately up there with ella, kenny and barret.Yea dont forget Ella just coz he didnt win the CC.Like moto said he would defo make it now in the nrl( as a fullback).The last two seasons some of their fillbacks arnt the best defensively.Gutherson,drinkwater,papenhauzen are a few of many

I disagree. Completely different types of player. Kenny was more a silky player in the Wardle mould. Check out the French highlights reel from last night and tell me Kenny could have done any of that! Every bit as good in a Wigan jersey as either of those two players and he's done it over many more seasons.

I met him in 2007 and had a long conversation with him. He was lovely. He was also the finest 6 I have seen in my life (in my opinion).

But was he also the best fullback and winger?
French is literally the only player who could slot in at all 3 positions and still be the best in the league! Tomkins possibly in 2 of them but no one that I can think of in all 3.

Agreed Kenny was and still for me the best player I’ve seen in a Wigan shirt,just a shame it wasn’t for longer.

Brent Kenny was world class, look at his NRL reels.
