Looks like Hull FC but that was hardly surprising! And how many half backs do Hull FC need in a team?
FCLachlan Lam to Hull FC: ‘Huge’ offer, Leigh termination clause explained
Hull FC are looking to make the remarkable signing of Lachlan Lam from Leigh Leopards ahead of the 2025 season.
According to Rugby League Live, he has been offered to Super League clubs – with Lam and his representatives activating the clause in this contract with Leigh that would allow him to head elsewhere.
This is despite him being contracted through 2025 – and the Leopards are disputing the legitimacy of the clause, as they say it doesn’t apply to Super League sides, just NRL
Now, the Hull Daily Mail is reporting that Hull FC are keen to make the signing themselves to bring a Dream Team halfback to the club. The offer is set to be ‘huge’ and they are confident of striking a deal despite Lam having another year on his contract. That’s because a clause in his contract is alleged to have already been activated which would allow him to move at the end of the current Super League campaign.
Even after their plethora of signings already made, Hull FC are looking to make yet another signing from under the nose of Derek Beaumont, further to John Asiata, Zak Hardaker and more.
Catalans Dragons are reportedly another side interested – after already signing halfback Luke Keary from NRL side Sydney Roosters for 2025.
A major positive for any side interested in the signing is that he doesn’t take up a quota spot due to playing in the British community game when he was younger.
What Hull FC would be getting with Lachlan Lam
He would likely be rotated with Jordan Abdull, Cade Cust and Jake Trueman next year, it what looks to be a very solid set of halfbacks for the side.
A 2019 NRL Premiership winner with Sydney Roosters, despite only making a handful of appearances, he was key to the Leopards’ promotion to Super League in 2022. Lam is also an international for Papua New Guinea, and played in the halves in their World Cup quarter-final defeat to England in 2022.
He’s not a high scorer, but has eight try assists this season and is a player capable of crafting an opportunity from nowhere. This signing would certainly improve Hull FC for next season.
