Yes, I thought the first one was OK (Keighran, was it?). I reckon he got to his feet and played the ball, he might have fallen over afterwards, but that shouldn't matter.the pieman wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 3:59 pm
yep, 2 in the 1st half i can remember (not watched 2nd half back yet) and 1 obstruction marred a very good controlled half of rugby
1st was harsh as the Saints player was all over the Wigan player, who had won the collision and getting a quick potb and i think Thompson put the ball down on a Saints players foot, so lost it

It does matter though, the interpretation is that if you fall after playing the ball then you weren't in control which you have to be. Keighran was almost pushed over by the saints player though, so it was a little harsh.moto748 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 10:51 pmYes, I thought the first one was OK (Keighran, was it?). When on loan at a super league club you train with them as well as play for them.
If on loan at championship or league 1, you are likely to train with Wigan as well as the club you are on loan at is likely to be part time.

Correct. What about the defensive player having to clear the ruck when the tackle has been completed? Delaney’s interference should have resulted in a penalty to Wigan.Mike wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 8:46 amIt does matter though, the interpretation is that if you fall after playing the ball then you weren't in control which you have to be. Its pretty random how its refereed at the moment, take the Ellis one - the defender hadn't cleared the ruck or Ellis couldn't have put the ball on his foot - could have gone either way.Charriots Offiah wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 11:41 amCorrect. The Delaney incident is far more clear. As Keighran looks to play the ball he is bumped by Delaney who is on the wrong side of the ruck.widdenoldboy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 1:13 pmIts pretty random how its refereed at the moment, take the Ellis one - the defender hadn't cleared the ruck or Ellis couldn't have put the ball on his foot - could have gone either way.Charriots Offiah wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 11:41 amCorrect. That one's pretty clear IMO. If you want a fast play the ball you have to be in a position to put the ball down on the ground in a controlled manner. I.e. if a defender is in the ruck you put it down on the ground not on the defender. If you put it in the defender you're not in control of where you placed the ball. This was brought in in response to milking penalties by intentionally involving defenders with fast play the balls catching defenders out of position.
