After the success of the first matches on BBC after the WCC the union boys needed to find a way to make this fail. So they didn't put another game on for months and then put it on the internet instead of TV. Jobs a good un.
However, it wouldn't have been any different on C4 IMO. A terrestrial channel needs a game a week or perhaps every 2 weeks max to gain any scheduling momentum. A game every now and again with long and random gaps is never going to make a ratings impact.
I reckon next year we give a non traditional channel a game a week and use the Vegas game as the big kick off for their coverage.

Who specifically are you referring to within the BBC? Grandstand in the 60's onwards is where I first got hooked on the game from afar . Been coming down for 23 years now still love it .
