when there was no drums in a mathc last year there was absolutley no atmosphere at all. And the atmosphere when they get the crowd going is out of this world!
i believe erm hull away there was no drums (the first hull away game not the second) and it just didnt feel right. instead of constant drumming the fans were clapping and banging on the walls with bottles, just was not the same. i think we need to keep them as it lifts the crowd and the team. yeah there are silent parts in the game but as soon as we liven up then the team feeds from this. having good support can help a team at times thats why i believe the drum should stay. plus it adds the atmosphere to the game!

Definately keep them, as people have already said the atmosphere just wouldnt be the same without them.

Must admit I like them myself - just wouldn't want to be sat directly in front of them! Think we would probably miss them if they weren't there. Why not give the drummer his own place in that viewing area at the top of the west stand - preferably right behind Stevo :D
THING IS WITH THAT YOU KNOW WERE THEY SIT AS IN THE EAST STAND THEY HAVE RESERVED SEATS,so you know were they are if you dont like sit somewhere else i stand on the back row right next to binder senior and binder junior   :doz:
Since the person objecting to the drumming will also most likely be in a reserved seat (season ticket holder) how are they supposed to sit somewhere else? And whay should they? They probably bought the seat for where it is view-wise and sit with friends etc and may have been there since day one of us moving to the JJB.

Season tickets don't come with a "drumming proximity warning".

I do think drummers need a special area. I like them but I daresay if I sat right in front of one I would not.

Having sat in the West (prawn sandwiches), East (pasties and sausage rolls) and the South (pies with optional burberry tin foil), one thing that I find is that noise does not carry from stand to stand very well. If the East are going barmy, you cannot hear it in the South and vica versa. The West, well polite clapping is the norm so they do not count.

I now reside in the South stand as I find by sitting in the lower part you get the atmosphere from the youngsters at the back but can still watch the match without interference. I was a Spion Kop regular so I guess I like standing behind the sticks as opposed to a touchline view.

Drummers generally take a big group with them anyway so its very unlikely that you will end up stood right infront of the actual drummer. I agree with the person that said about there being no atmosphere when the drummer wasn't there. However I remember there being a good enough atmosphere at Central Park when there was no drummer nearby. Wigan fans have come to rely on the drum in recent year but it's a good noisy way to get the fans going.

Yeah just as long as we dont bring in any idiots like they do at Leeds with the trumpets because that would be awful
How is that idiotic in any way? It's just another way of supporting the team. Probably less disruptive than a drum.

No, defensive I haven't got a problem with you stating your opinion. I just don't agree with it, hence my reply.
