Perfect for French to completely embarrass Lewis this weekend

Willie Peters as Coach of the Year is another award for mediocrity.

Admittedly he has got them to 2nd in the league and to a Grand Final, but so far he has won nothing, other than this award.

If (hopefully when) Matty Peet completes the full trophy haul on Saturday, it makes a complete mockery of the Coach of the Year award.

It always strikes me as being a stupid system to have the awards before the most important game of the season, they should be awarded the weekend after, taking into account the Grand Final result.

I’ve always said the same thing & also the same of the clubs Official Awards Dinner. Fans don’t get the chance to say goodbye to the players either!

well done to all the winners etc . especially Junior but I have to say Coach of the year in my opinion Matty all the way for what he's achieved at Wigan . Think someone is jealous or trying to tell us something .plus well done to Liam Marshall recognised at last. Show them all at the weekend.

Peter’s has guided Hull KR to their first ever Grand Final so it is a great achievement.

Utterly ridiculous situation where a coach can win everything there is to win, hold all the trophies at once and is one step away from winning them all in a calendar year but someone else wins it for getting to a final.

Essentially, if Matt Peet had won coach of the year only for Rovers to win the Grand Final it would seem daft in hindsight for Peters not to be coach of the year given the scale of the achievement.
Likewise, Peters winning coach of the year would seem a bit ridiculous if we win the Grand Final and Matt Peet becomes the first coach to lead his team to all 4 trophies in the same calendar year.

The timing of the awards is definitely wrong. I could also once again go off on one about how the current voting methods for Man of Steel have meant no prop or back row forward has won the award for 16 years despite being well represented in the preceding 16 years and despite Super League seeing some incredibly talented forwards in that time. I know we have a similar process to the Dally M awards but their results are even worse for forwards as I think it's 1 winner (Taumalolo) since 1988. It's not really reflective of what makes a top player.
