Well, it’s silver, and when the man asked for it to be made he asked for trophy to be made. So it’s a proper Cup, competed for.

Would you not count the old charity shield as a proper cup? Or the Workington hospital cup? Dublin cup? Wigan charity cup? West Lancashire and border towns Union cup? That hideous thing we got when we played Hull FC in Oz?

It's a cup that can only be won by one of two sides in the competition.

It's a "cup". So is the one in my cupboard and I don't count that as an achievement either! :lol:

I recall it being called the 'Ward Cup', probably sponsored by Wardonia razor blades who advertised their product in the centre pages of the programme, between the two nominated sides playing on that day. Always the first game of the season and alternating with Warrington only. (When a programme cost three old pence each).
