I like to hope we stand a good chance at weekend against leeds, there was a lot of negatives but we did manage to score 30 points and we even dropped the ball over the line twice (yes i do realise some will point out our poor defence) Lets start looking at the positives from lastweek, i hope millward will have done some work on the defence.

Friday is going to depend on whether our defence on our own line has improved, because it seems the majority, if not all the frogs tries came from within 10metres, so thats one thing i hope they've been working on in training. I'd like to see richards actually in the right position and not leaving claderwood stranded, because he's not that good alone in defence. The half backs are also going to have to be chosen wisely, there's no point screwing up like he did last week and lockers must play at 13. I think a certain Mr Calderwood will be looking for a big game, which might be the kick up the bum he's been needing and from todays observer millward has said Vaealiki should be challenging to be in the top couple of centres around as he's totally overcome his injury and is a lot fitter, so fingers crossed our backs will be dangerous. Think Leeds are going to take a while to adjust they lost a huge part of their pack when they lost McKenna and McDermott.

Glad to see we're getting behind the team!
wonder if that will be Millwards pre match talk to the team"don't worry lads, we're going to lose anyway".
Remember Murrayfield? Remember the dying seconds against the Bulls as Rads went in? Remember being written off against Stains at the JJB Good Friday (or was it Easter Monday) last year?
Yes I remember all those games... what do you want me to say though? Do you want me to come on here before every match and predict Wigan victories.
I am fully behind Wigan I hope we can win, but I don't think we can. I think we will be beat and I have no problems in stating so.
I also have no problems in being wrong.

I'm fairly sure Millwards team talk will be insperational and send the team out to win but that's got nothing to do with it. I don't think Wigan will win!
To be fair I didn't think they would win against Saints last good Friday... but I also thought they would have beaten Huddersfield, Wakefield and Bradford at home. So take from that what you will...

The rebuild process is still very much in its infancy and I just don't think you can expect all the new signings and everything else just to click and Wigan beat a strong Leeds outfit.

I just don't see what basis you can go into the game thinking that this is one for Wigan to take and I'm not about blind faith.
Well firstly, as Pie Eater pointed out earlier it's only the 2nd game.
Secondly, we went out against an unknown entity last week, yes our defence was poor, yes we had a crap ref who probably gave away 3 tries to the Dragons (as they say read it in the papers).
Thirdly, Leeds didn't exactly set the world on fire with a barstorming performance against the Giants.
Fourthly, I am one of lifes optomists.

and it's Wigan Rugby ......

I hope i am not talking out of turn here but i think the point Doug is making is that we have had a radical change at the club in terms of recruitment on and off the field which will take time to reach maximum effectiveness, Leeds playing badly ground a win out over a settled solid side, Leeds were the GF runners up last season and winners the year before. He like the rest of us would be overjoyed with a Wigan win but in his opinion we arnt far enough on the road to recovery to beat a full strength Leeds side. Whats so wrong with that i dont see this is being unfaithful to the side but as honest as he sees it.

You have just said Damien that we have alot of changes which we have, but Leeds have also , they have a much new look and younger side than when they last came to the JJB Stadium.
The point i was making is that Doug like some others including myself are looking at a number of contributing reasons for a possible Leeds victory not just players but the all round situation it goes without saying that i would like nothing better than a Wigan victory but it will be a big ask.

The other option fellas is to put Wagga or Higham at 7 and move Moran to 6 what do you think?

Based on the fact that Higham has an awful distribution problem i wouldnt endorse that change. If Orr is fit then play him he has got A solid pack and should have less defense resp so if he cant perform now i would rather find out now than wait till mid season. Then little can be done about it
