Anyway, what do crowds matter? If a Wigan team played in a marbles cup-final I'd want them to win it.

And WTF is math???
The average LEAGUE gate is over 20,000 (20,868) but seeing that the thread was about the LEAGUE CUP final I took the liberty of using the true average gate of ALL home games so far which comes to 17,408.25 which on this planet at least, is less than 20,000.
As for me using the word “math” instead of “maths” I didn’t give the book I recommended, which is English, its title so I can’t be blamed for that.
Also I agree “what do crowds matter” but I didn’t start flapping MY gums about averages and 27,000 going to Cardiff, I merely corrected wrong information and expressed a wish for football fans to stay on football web sites.

No doubt Radlinski's "big night out" will be used to calculate the Warrior's average too :-)

I want both teams to do well (I pay good money to see both after all!) but let's not kid ourselves that the football haven't done slightly better over the past couple of years ie..

More success
Bigger average gates
Biggest total attendance
More media coverage

Credit where credit's due eh?

I think Millward got it right on the telly tonight when he said that a successful football team is good for sport in the town in general and brings more interest (and investment) to both clubs.

Some of you need to take a leaf out of his book and ditch the pettyness.

Fester, even if you include the League Cup games, that's fairly respectable. As I posted on another thread. though their League/FA Cup crowds against Newcastle/Bolton/Arsenal/Leeds were all nearer 12,000, I hope we get that many on in the Challenge Cup!

How can it b petty? I don't live in Wigan and am a life long fan of the rl team and have no affiliation with the football team. I am a football fan and always have been. But as i am not a latics fan as many are not on this website can you please find a site dedicated to them and stop wasting the ppls time who care nothing about the latics.

It's not sour grapes or pettiness it's ppl who don't happen 2 follow the football team and y don't u get off ur high horse and start repecting other ppls views or teams and understand that mayb other ppl on this site support other football teams or not follow it all.

How many more threads are wasted on this topic and do i really need to say it again, well i'm goin 2:-
"THIS IS A RUGBY LEAGUE SITE AS IT SAYS ABOVE WIGAN-WARRIORS.COM, BY THE FANS, FOR THE FANS" I think this is meant for fans of rugby league not wigan in general!

There are plenty of football sites/forums 2 join on the net and if u want 2 speak bout it go there. I'm not normally this harsh and probably wouldnt speak about it if u were all latics and warriors fans but obviously not all r and should b respected 4 that.

well i tell u wat is petty, posting immediately after i post my previous one, there are obviously some really mature and respectful ppl on here, new ones that is and i think u need 2 find somewhere else 2 go 4 football this is ridiculous. Football should b banned from spoken about on this forum unless it's relevant to warriors team and it's not!

I'm not quite sure what you're getting at here, KTWhatever is entitled to his/her opinion and the timing of their post compared to yours isn't really relevant. I can't really see why you think that is petty?

Football discussions that decend into slanging matches, or which are deliberate attempts at winding up followers of the other sport (ie rugby fans goading wendyball fans and vice-versa) are not tolerated, but if things are kept civilised there's no real problem. And there are certain soccer-related topics that are relevant to us, such as discussions about the pitch, so it wouldn't be sensible to ban all soccer-related discussions (and us moderators aren't here 24/7 to check every message that gets posted!).

What is not welcome, however, it txtspk. Please try to write full words, we're not using mobile phones here. Thank you.

As an aside, like you I have no incentive to wish the Latics well. I'm not from Wigan and currently live in Manchester so, if I were interested in soccer, I'd probably have to lean towards Corporate United this weekend instead. But I'm not interested so I'll not wish either luck, nor any ill-will. I'll just ignore the whole thing because it's not relevant to me.

Sorry Fraggle i know you don't like text message language, it's just habit and apologise for that. I think sometimes people do it 2 avoid spelling errors and does have a bad effect on the younger generations.

However i can spell reasonably well and my mother is an ex English teacher, so i will post with as many full words as possible, but apologise if i include one or two.

If you are not sure of certain text you can always question it and i'm more than happy to elaborate on such text.

As for their opinions, (i.e. latics fans) i totally respect their views, opinions, i just think it's not relevant to the warriors and i'm sure there are more non latics fans than latics fans and are fed up of reading such threads.

I'm not disrespecting someones opinion, i'm just going by the majority. If you wan't to put it to the vote and if it goes for ppl to discuss football on here fine, but i thought this forum was for rl fans and not football.

I respect football fans and am one myself, and am not posting this to ignite provocation, just to point out the fact ppl have tried to for ages and that not everyone registered here is a latic as you quite rightly pointed out.
