yes but last year we weren't expecting to get relegated this season. last season was all about surviving and rebuilding. this season is about surviving, maybe top 6 finish and the team gelling. im sure we have a plan and we aim to continue rebuilding in the off season but for now we need to concentrate on uping our game and playing like a professional rugby team and not something you can see in the sunday leagues at pubs.

I find myself agreeing with everyone - fence sitter that I am. However, I do get a similar feeling about the club I had in the late seventies when we were eventually relegated and even suffered the indignity of being Fulham's first victim in the old 2nd Div. Millward has to be trusted and given time.

the expectation for wigan this season was to be in the top 3 come end of season not by me but from alot of fans and some coaching staff but i dont think i'm wrong in saying that most people will just be thinking of surviving relegation now.

we've been this since the cap came in, but what i cant get my head around is why have saints leed bradford been able to adapt to it and not us what is it poor Financial management?, simply crap signing like over-rated aussies?, or could be cause its been a one man dictatorship at wigan for years and hes not turned out be a that clever of a business man afterall?

Also a bit worried about the direction we are going in the transfer market with the signing of 25 year old Second Row Forward Oliver Wilkes from Whitehaven on a 2 year contract. I don’t recall st Helens & Bradford signing players from the lower league this season. So one more person on contract affecting the development of future stars at Wigan.
Saints signed Ade Gardner and Wilkin (I think) from lower division sides.
As to Wilkes affecting the development of future Wigan stars he is on an 18 month contract so that hardly puts a block on 18 year olds who are far from ready for SL.
One minute we are spending too much money on star player salaries and people are crying out for strength in depth with the addition of some solid but less costly players and when the club signs such a player they are accused of not being to Wigan standard.
The club can't win.

We are not going down. This time its not the coach. In Wigan we have always paniced when we lose a couple of games then sack the coach. We have a salary cap now, the days of the 80's have gone where money buys a trophy. In todays game, trophies are won by solid team work, players playing for 100 minutes with 100% enthusiasm and a great coach. This team is not built overnight. We need time to develop our winning machine; there is no quick fix. Saints, Bradford and Leeds have not attained success overnight, we have dusted them for several years. Slowly but surely they have worked with what they have, strengthened and developed in to the teams they are today. We need to do the same. Simply getting rid of the coach will spiral us more in to disillusionment. Millward has a sound CV, look at Leigh and Saints. Give it time, we will be Champions again. Sack the unmotivated players, not the coach.

ah give me a break man. We are bottom of the league for the first time in 100 years. We are the most famous club in england and arguably in the world. Why panic? its obvious. The coach doesnt have the respect of the players that is perfectly evident. The players arent playing for Millward. He is obviously not the right man for the job - he has had long enough to prove it and if the board dont sort out the problem soon it could be too late. You cannot say we will not get relegated, your not Machiaveli and cant see into the future. We are bottom now which suggests we have a big chance of relagation. If we do go down the club and everyone will regret not changing things, whereas if we change now at least we tried to fix the problem.
No coach or players should be allowed to put Wigan into this position. Sack the coach, drop the guys who arent doing it into the academy and bring the kids in. If the guys who are dropped dont get their s**t together dont bring them back. A lot of guys are off contract next year.
No famous soccer team would allow their team to be in this position and do nothing about it - Utd, Madrid, Munich, Milan. Wigan have that kind of tradition in sport it shouldnt happen here either.
If a corporation is about to go broke you hire new people to turn it around, find out whats wrong and change it. Nothing is right at Wigan now, we are at an all time low. Something has to give
