Like the Final being held at Wembley?

We need to concentrate on the league - the challenge cup is another distraction and opportunity to pick up injuries

"...reports that the national stadium may not be ready until 2007 have put the August 26 Challenge Cup final in doubt.

Stadium contractors were due to hold talks today amid rumours that hundreds of workers could be laid off next week in a pay dispute.

This follows a roof beam collapsing and problems with the sewerage system in the 90,000-seater stadium."

Theres installing confidence and then there's living in dream worlds. Micky on Boots n all reckoned we could be up there with Saints in 20 games...am sorry but are we all just being pessimistic or are we really playing too badly to be making the top 2? Wake up Micky love.

Noticably no comments from the RFL in that story, just the Gaurdain jumping to conclusions I suspect. I'd be expecting to see a statement from the RFL on one of the news sites if it were definite, but there's been nothing yet. But given the delays, problems with drainage, unpaid staff and bits falling off, it wouldn't suprise me if they've got to concede defeat.

An RL spokesman said: "No one has yet said the final will not go ahead at Wembley but if it is to be switched then we have a number of alternative options under review."

to be honest, i cant see why they can't just play the final at old trafford like the gf... after all, most teams are northern anyway, and this would cut down travel costs etc.

Wouldn't be the same though would it! And it would take away from the GF itself.
The challenge cup is known for being a good day out whether you win or lose. Sheffield 98 was a great day even though we lost, but the fun is in getting up early to travel miles and wear daft clothes and hats etc and make loads of noise at a big stadium.

I wouldn't want the CC at Old Trafford anyway...

Last time we played more than one game at OT (World Cup final in November 2000 I think it was), that Alex Ferguson bloke complained about the state of the pitch - the following FEBRUARY when his team went through a bad spell he started complaining about the rugby players making a mess of his pitch!
