And why on earth would he swap his current position with his side in the top six to coach a side at the bottom of SL?damien morrissey posted:
i have a suggestion Harrison, he seems to have grown in skill and support. It is early days yet for him as a coach but he seems to inspire his guys does well under salary cap and he isnt afraid to say we were awful, none of this rubbish about winning so many first halfs, so what who cares what about the second half!
This is the problem with sacking Millward. There isn't anyone to replace him unless they go for Pendlebury which would in itself be a risk.
I think Millward has made mistakes. Appointing Lockers captain. Change for change sake before we had injuries.
That said I did not expect us to win tonight. Wakey had players back, we had even more players out.
The first half performance was obviously not acceptable. I didn't go but I didn't need to in order to work that one out.
However reacting to this result by sacking Millward tonight i.e. on the spur of the moment isn't the way to run a club.
We have to hope Millward has a strong enough character to get through this and show the coaching ability he is supposed to possess.
I don't know if he will be able to do it or not or if he will be given the time to do it by the board but if you consider who might realistically replace him, we may as well give him the chance to turn it around.
