Today i did see a bit of fighting but i didn't hang around! it was a shame the way abuse was hurled at us as we were walking through the streets from people in cars and even a public bus driver with a bus full of people

Therin lies the problem. There seems little regard for what goes on outside the ground.

I am convinced all the soccer pundits such as Liniker (spelling?) etc never mention the violence at soccer because inside the ground it is stewarded and the BBC or whoever don't have cameras outside.

It is a head in the sand approach and I would like to think if violence is increasing after RL matches the RFL would look into it rather than adopt the same aproach of ignoring it.

I was on the (public) bus at ringside when it all kicked off. The Policeman was silly in his actions perhaps as he acted alone and 'jumped' straight in rather than waiting for his back up (seconds away). A much more united front by the police would have created fear and quelled the situation more. But I suppose he'd have been vilified for not doing enough if he'd have waited. No excuse for those actions people. And to do it in front of a camera, well, I will expect those people brought to justice.
PS. I was on middle? of the 3 busses and the there was no abuse thrown at ANYONE on this one. It was full of Wiganers.

Stewards at the JJB do a marvelous job. Just imagine the carnage that would happen of we walked on the concrete at the front of the East stand!

Good point about the incidents outside grounds not getting publicised - I often take the train into Manchester when there's a Latics home game on later, and there are hundreds of police lining the route from the station to the ground. For Warriors home games there's not a copper in sight.

It would have been worse as the amount of trouble causes in the stains fans would have hated seeing how even though we got beat we were still singing and enojoying ourselves they couldnt understand how they werent getting to us. So they resorted to fighting
