seu seu not on quota hes kolpack ,moran ,dallas and fletch are our quota players
excuse my ingnorance whats "kolpack"? also what about Logan, Richards and Vaealiki
Kolpak means they come from a country that has a special arrangment with the EU such that citizens of those countries are treated the same way employment-wise as EU nationals.

So just like a French RL player does not need a work permit to play in England a player from a country that has signed the Kolpak agreement does not need one either.

They also don't count on the overseas quots for the same reason.

It is developing countries that have signed the Kolpak agreement and that includes many of the South Sea Islands which is where the likes of Seu Seu are orignally from (despite us thinking they are really Kiwi's).

Logan has Scottish ancestry and Richards Irish so those two don't count on the quota either.

So our Kolpak players are Seu Seu, Feka and DV.
Our quota players are Fletcher, Moran and Dallas
Our "British" players are Logan and Richards.

So despite the overseas quota being three, we have eight players who are really foreign if you apply a bit of common sense as opposed to the strange laws of nationality and work permits/visas.

Think it means they have european passports, through there ansesters, thus dont count as an overseas player. Eg His great grandmother could have been English
Isn't the Kolpak ruling one that promotes the development of players from South Sea islands meaning they do not count on the quota? Vaealiki is an islander.

He seems to have signed as a replacement for Moran on the quota. It will be whether he gets a work permit to whether it goes ahead. It seems that the reason widnes etc couldnt get a work permit for him was that he hadnt played first grade in the NRL, but the 12 games for Cats might tip it for us :)

The rugby football league have given Wigan full backing for Dobson to get a work permit, due to the twelve games he played for Catalan.

Incidentally "Kolpak" was the name of the guy who first took his case to the European Court, claiming restraint of trade. That opened the door for all other sports to use the same 'loophole'.
Similar concept to the "Bosman" case in soccer.

Dobson has trained this week with us, we are just waiting on his work permit. The link below also talks about us wanting Johnson back, and Newton.

The latest news of this morning is there is no news.

Wigan still want to sign him but will not until given the all clear from the home office and to conclude he has not trained with Wigan this week and that is a fact.

Many will speculate and say that this is happening and that is happening but the truth is nothing what so ever is happening. The cogs have stopped because there is no where Wigan can go with this one until they are granted clearance to play him. They have spoken to him and agreed terms ( which they will not release unless everything goes through)

The next thing we will here on this one is he is playing or he is going home.

This is a direct quote from a club official.

Isn't that a picture of Danny Sculthorpe accompanying that story?

And what would they speculate is happening? Everyone knows the club needs a work permit and is waiting with baited breath to see if he gets one.

Obviously.

Well that is good news because it means if he gets a permit he is with us not any other clubs interested.

I don't think you need to be a genius to work that one out.
