Now reported in the WEP:

Have to say I can't understand it, if true. I'd have both Godwin and Ashton ahead of those two - especially considering their ages.
Oh well, Noble hasn't got much wrong since he came - I'll bow to his undoubtedly superior knowladge!

:( Two ageing players. I cannot see what Millard offers that Godwin does not and Wayne is only going to get better. Withers, I am at a loss as to why we need him whatsoever. We are well covered at fullback with Ashton, Melling, Brocklehurst.

Very interestng interview with Rads in one of the local papers. He says he cannot play fullback because he simply is not fit enough. He reckons playing centre allows him to 'cheat' (his words) and get a breather between plays. His knee gives him a lot of grief when he plays too. Only adds to my admiration for him. Legend!

I can see what he's doing, we have had a team full of kids who have been either not good enough, or too experienced, at the moment he is just trying to steady the ship and get some experience in there and get us back competing, if that means a few short term fixes I can live with that, nothing can be worse than what we've seen this year.

No offence, when you have got teams to the last 6 GF I will take your view over Noble's, until then I will trust what he's doing and give him and his signings time to prove themselves.

Plus, lets be honest neither are poor players. Millard has been outstanding at Leeds and Withers on his day is as good as any back in SL. I don't know much about him being prone to injuries, we'll have to wait and see. As mentioned in a previous post if Nobby is looking for short term stop gaps to steady the ship I can accept that. He obviously knows what he is doing.

Watcher, I will concur and say likewise

The only thing I can think with Millard he could play in more than one position. Withers I just anticipate him being injured for half or more of the season.

If we get to a CC or GF next season with the signings he makes, nobody will say anything about Godwin leaving, Ashton has a massive future at Wigan, I think he could be moved upto centre or wing next year.

I can see the need for experience, to some extent, but it seems to me that full back and hooker have been probably our best covered positions this year. Had it been, say a couple of experienced centres (Senior, for example), or a scrum-half, I could have understood it better.
Both Ashton & Godwin have been excellent for us this season

I watched boots and all months ago and saw Millard speaking to a interviewer, he was against another Widnes player at the time in one of those comps. He was throwing rugby balls against the clock through tyres (by the way he won). However both he and the other player referred to Millard as an old player who’s best days where behind him. He referred to himself as an old man now, I believe he was over the moon when Leeds came in for him as he thought he was at the back end of his career.

What I will say for him he is a very good ageing player who’s better days are behind him but is still better than some.

NOT FOR US THOUGH
