It's a joke that Mason has no case to answer for the tackle on Sean Long, Newton got 10 games for a very similar tackle on Long and Mason will get nothing.

Another thing that shocks me is this : "The charge was laid after the Great Britain team formally complained about the incident after the match." which suggests that Klien was happy to do nothing about the incident.

Rugby League should make an example of Willie Mason by banning him for along time because what he did is not rugby league and we can't allow players at any level to think that things like that are acceptable. If it was a GB player who did that the Aussies would be screaming for his head, a few years ago the Aussies wanted serious punishment for Terry Newton after a tackle on a Aussie player. I the British team should demand serious punishment for Mason for the sake of the safety of the players.

People get punched/fight all the time, do we judge every case like this? Or do we just off the fact that he caught him square and floored him? Dave V smacked Scully whilst he was on the floor a few seasons back, were you up in arms then?

All fights should have at least a 2 match ban, I know some fans enjoy the occasional fight but we can allow it to become common in rugby league. Fletcher got a to match ban earlier this year for fighting when he actually hit his own player so, Mason should get too games at the minimum.

As for the Mason case, he goes into matching looking to hurt people and was making gestures at the NZ team during their hacka he has not respect what so ever.

I'm not saying what happened to Fielden was not wrong. You can live with that IMO BUT the challenge on Long was a blatant assault and could have resulted in serious damage. The compatison on exactly the same player is Terry Newton and we know what happened to Terry.

You have to wonder who / what makes these decisions

IMO, Willie has mental health issues

Kidwell has a lot to answer for. That hit in the Kiwis match might have damaged the only brain cell Willie had.

rather than all getting carried away with willies mental capabilities the real point is just poor refereeing.
The punch on Feilden could have been dealt with straight away, even with just a yellow card. It was after all "just a punch" that happpened to connect properly. I am not saying we should turn a blind eye to fighting but as far as things go it was no worse a fight than you see in an awful lot of games. Just a luckier punch!
The Long incident would have then led to a red card. Justifiably.

Ironically i beleive the fact that peacock put willie on the floor i think was one of the reasons we won the game. Had he not shown Willie he was not the "cock of the pitch" i think he would have dominated the game. Fielden was not the only one who was quietened down.

lets keep some perspective.
Had Masons punch just been met with one back from Fielden it would not have been seen as such a huge point of the game.

I still would love him to play for us, but I would insist in the contract that he had to revert to his old hair do!

Whislt playing Union we were taught get the 1st punch in as the ref will see the second one.

I still can see Mason getting 2 games ban as the penalty in the match was not adequate.

Two yellows don't equal a red in our game, and yellows aren't given for illegal hits like the Long incident.
