Re: STACY JONES
Why is this such great news, for one Stacy Jones will miss 6 weeks for the Super League which I'm sure he will be very unhappy about as will Les Catalasn and if Wigan can't beat teams at full strength whats the point, isn't that the aim to put the best against the best?
I think LeuLeui would sort him out anyway if he was playing.

Re: STACY JONES
So what are we supposed to do? Drop LeuLeui to even things up? You can only play the team the opposition puts out and if it means an easier ride due to an injury or a suspension you say thank you very much and take the points if you can.adrenalinxx posted:

Come on DaveO, you know that's not what adrenalinxx is trying to say! The point being conveyed is that shouldn't be celebrating in Catalan's misfortune we should be strong enough and capable enough beating a full strength Catalan's side, making the injury to Jones, irrelevant.DaveO posted:So what are we supposed to do? Sorry can't agree. It's like nigel mansell winning world championship when his car was so much better. If cats are so much poorer without jones it devalues the win (which it will be). To be thankful that a player is injured does not sit well with me HC
Re: STACY JONES
I don't remember any other clubs offering us any sympathy when we were struggling to put out 17 players over the age of 14 at times last season. Injuries are part and parcel of the game, and particularly the challenge that all clubs have to manage despite the salary cap. I don't think beating a team who are missing one or two players devalues the result at all, it's all just part of the sport. We'll be lucky to play all season with our best players fit for every game, but we'll just have to put up with it and get on with the game. There'll be no-one talking of devalued victories if they beat us, so I don't really think we need to be suggesting the same if we beat a team missing some stars.highland convert posted:

It's les cats fault for being such a one man squad - if they can't win without Jones then it's their own fault for not having a better team. Whilst we perhaps shouldn't celebrate the fact; we certainly shouldn't complain about it. After all - as Fraggle said, we don't get a lot of sympathy when we are missing key players

Re: STACY JONES
Its sad that Stacey will be missing for the Wigan game, be good to see a legend again in control of a team, make the match a bit more competitive also. Its never good seeing a player injured (except sean long for example) and hope he gets a full recovery soon.
The devaluing of a win without Jones is stupid, yes there is no 'I' in TEAM (but there are 5 'i's in Individualistic) and with or without Jones, a wigan win will have as much importance than any game against the Cats.

Re: STACY JONES
I don't recall that we got any sympathy when he got injured in the first few weeks of last season and he'd already played against us. Everyone else just enjoyed their easy wins and our misfortune. Just a bit of balance being restored.
