To be honest I think players complain far too much and use excuses for the fact that they are simply not good enough nor dedicated enough. In terms of ability, you look at the last great GB teams back in 58 and 62. The forwards were big, strong and fast. The Edgar, Huddart, Turner, Karalius were wonderful physical specimens. They were very skillful. Likewise, the backs. Murphy / Bolton - Fast, sublime skill. Boston / Fox / Ashton / Southworth - Physical specimens and skills a plenty.
If the present GB players want to be thought of in that ilk they need to truly dedicate themselves and live a lifestyle that enables them to compete at that level. They need to pay attention to diet. They need to have no alcohol they need to make their body as good as it can possibly be and train skills even when they are away from club training.
These very same players will be playing friendlies / testimonials. What price Saints whining about too many games despite seeking and getting an extra match with the world club challenge.
The Aussies and NZers are better because they prepare better and play harder week in week out.
