Re: CHRIS ASHTON TONIGHT!!...
I remember Jason Robinsons similar boo boo at Castleford which cost us a try (but not the match that day as we were trounced) so as long as Ashton learns from that howler and does not repeat it in the rest of his career I will settle for that.

I'm not going to sit here and blame Ashton for the result! Okay, he made a big mistake, but he will learn and become a better player. I know Turf seems to have it in for him, but if some of the other players showed as much passion we might be top of the table now! He is no different from last year, and he certainly has not lost his ability to find the try line!
Re: CHRIS ASHTON TONIGHT!!...
I have NOT got it in for Ashton. The RLfans site have though. My grandad reckons he has put weight on.
I said, well, he has still got what we want in a full back, he is quick off the mark, and he can move when he gets to full pace as well.
His try took some scoring last night though, and all credit to him, he had the pace, and did the right thing by going to the corner.

As I said earlier, ignore most of the garbage on RLfans. Have your own opinions; don't worry about what RLfans (or your grandad) says.turf posted:

Rlfans are by and large idiots. The odd good poster but most are knobs.
Re: CHRIS ASHTON TONIGHT!!...
I didn't know whether or not Ashton had put any weight on. I just thought that he looked the same weight, but just quicker off the mark, and quicker in his general play.
I think to say he has put weight on his harsh to be honest.

True! Even DaveO would agree with that, and he's a mod on there!cpwigan posted:

I don't think Withers had a bad game at all. I thought he had quite a good one. I also think Withers is better than Ashton at full back and Ashton's place isn't on the wing. Was shocked Calderwood was dropped. Ashton's a talented young player and is going to bring future glory to Wigan. No ones critising him but his place isn't on the wing and looking at Withers performance last night it isn't going to be at full back for a while.

Re: CHRIS ASHTON TONIGHT!!...
So where can Ashton play then? Not full back, as Whithers is there, and not wing, because he wasn't sparkling last night.
I know I'll spark another debate but centre maybe. He can't play anywhere else.
Mr Ashton, may have to get used to being benched!!!!! or dropped altogether!!! Surely not?!?!
If so, then Noble may privately give him a rollicking for is (so called) sudden weight gain.
Mind you, if you're up against big Lesley, then I wouldn't blame him for adding a couple of extra pounds!!!!!!!!!

Re: CHRIS ASHTON TONIGHT!!...
Well to be honest I'd rather have Ashton on center than DV. It's good giving all the young players a chance but when players like Calders get dropped seems a bit funny. If the rumours are true and he goes to Leeds then we're gonna be in the s**t, with Richards and Ashton on the wing, Richards is a huge waste of space and even though Ashton is really good at full back, like i said before, his place isn't on the wing and after Withers performance last night there will be no competition.
