Thta sounds Just Fine to Me. Blood your Youngsters and prepare to be Beaten.
If you'd looked properly you would see that first 13 is a typical full starting 13 of the current Wigan side. Withers has sore ribs so no need to rush him back to soon.
The differences are on the bench. O'Carroll for Prescott is swapping one young prop for another and this is to be expected as the season goes on so that is nothing out of the ordinary.
So basically there are two bench players different than a side we would expect to see at any other fixure this season with Hill and Millard out.
I can't see Nobby leaving the latter out myself but if he did for McIllorum he is a very good player.
As to leaving Hill out he has been solid enough but either him or Hansen are IMO being challenged for a lace by Tomkins so it's hardly out of order if he gets the nod before one of them.
Put out Your Proper Team and you could go to Wembley
It will be a proper team with my only doubt being Barrett. We have weakly reports on here saying how he is crocked again and I am awaiting this weeks instalment. If he is then this is where Noble earns his crust deciding to either risk slipping up at Widnes giving him the rest he needs or risking him again to hopefully ensure progression to the next round.
I'd play him myself as there are far fewer games to get to Wembley than there are to the GF so given our lack of depth in the squad I'd go for broke with the challenge cup.

Widnes are Not an exceptional team by Super League standards, and in Dennis Moran, Toa Kohe Love , Mark Smith, Paul Noone, Bob Beswick, we have at least some presence
Team.
1 Gavin Dodd
2 Dean Gaskell or Andy Kirk
3 Mick Nanyn
4 Toa Kohe Love
5 Damian Blanch
6 Dennis Moran
7 Ian Webster
8 Aaron Summers
9 Mark Smith
10 Jordan James
11 Paul Noone
12 Oliver Wilkes
13 Bob Beswick
Now I would be confident of a Clear 40 point Wigan Margin on this One, - Yet if Wigan turn up with 5 or 6 Youngsters , then it will be Close
i think it will be a good game as widnes have some good players in their squad with old warrior moran is going to try his best to make us feel wrongly in giving him the sack last year and mick cassidy i think will have a good game but i think barrett will just be too good for the widnes defence

My theory (for what it's worth).
We put out full team and continue to jell (and gain confidence).
Stains put out a mickey mouse squad and then fall apart at the JJB the following Friday
To be honest, with 3 good wins behind us and hopefully another good victory on Sunday, I can see us turning over the scousers on Good Friday

No offense vikingstorm I'm sure you are very passionate about your team but Mcllorum is better than Mark Smith and Wilkes and Noone are nothing compared to Joel Tomkins. Don't be fooled by the tag "youngster" some of these players have been pushing for first team places for awhile and have the skills and talent to player in the Super League and will compete against a NL1 team.

I too would give O'Carroll a run out! Can anyone tell me why he has not played in the last 3 or 4 games? I know the obvious answer to this question simply being not too blood a young lad too early, but 3 or 4 games absence? Could we not rotate O'Carroll and Prescott from one week to the next?
As for the Widnes game, i agree with CP Wigan on this one. Tompkins especially is chomping at the bit and i would give him a start over Hansen for this game!
As for Barrett, i would start him, but look to bring him off 'if' the game looks to be heading our way, with a good breathing space.
This would not be a weak side, as competition between the likes of Prescott, O'carroll, Hansen and Tompkins is so strong at present!

Ive herd Good reports about McIllorum (Check Spelling_) abd Tomkins - But I watch these Young Fellas coming through the ranks and placing Tomkins agains Harn Nosed Professionals like Noone and James and Beswick could still be a mistake.
Although I accept they are far more talented.
Im in Wigan Tomorrow watching my Son play St Judes, so I'm Feeding the Lad up tonight to make sure he gives your Lads a Bit of Stick

Now you see this is what bothers me. Already the most of you have Wigan in the hat for the next round.
Of course, on paper and current form and playing staff and etc etc Wigan should win.. but just don't go getting carried away.
All of you people who were predicting >30 points victory aganinst Hull KR should be well warned at this stage.
I'd like a strong as possible team to go out against Widnes. The team CPWigan posts is about right, it's a strong Wigan team, I wouldn't say it's overally freshening things up and blooding youngsters, but there could be an opportunity there for someone.
I would like more emphasis on continuety and consolidation iof what we have achieved and keep the progress. It's a cup game againts Widnes, who have given us many a fright in cup games when they were supposed to be a weaker team.
Widnes will be up for this one. Don't underestimate them.
well said :eusa2: i think though the squad that wigan will send out against widnes will be
1 ashton
2 calderwood
3 phil baily
4 David Vaeliki
5 pat richards
6 Trent barrett
7 thomas leuluai
8 stuart fielden
9 shane millard
10 Iafeta Paleaaesina
11 danny hill
12 gareth hock
13 sean o'loughlin
subs
14 Eamon O'Carroll
15 paul prescott
16 micky higham
17 joel tomkins
