It has been announced that there will be a minutes silence for Terry before the match on Saturday. This makes me nervous.

I feel that a minutes applause would have been better bearing in mind who we are playing.

I'm not sure that I can trust some elements of the Saints fanbase to pay their repsects and I do think that there will be noise and insults hurled.

Even though they are very good at minutes silence at Knowsley Rd, they seem to have one every time we are there, even before the reserves Grand Final, I think this is one that will not be upheld.

Whoever dreamt up the idea of a minutes applause wants shooting IMO. It's a complete oxymoron and is only there to cover up the sad people who disrespect the moment.

Applauding someone who has died in such tragic circumstances however well intended simply does not go with how sombre an event is being marked. It's too close to the event to be seen in any way a celebration of his life in my opinion.

That said I can see where you are coming from that the minutes silence may well not be well observed. If not it may not even be down to any disrespect just the logistics of getting maybe 76,000 people coordinated.

I guess we will have the answer to your question on Saturday.

Sue. I share your concerns especially considering there will be fans of all other teams at the match, many of whom will have had a drink. I am just hoping that if any idiot decides to disgrace the occasion, he/she will be dealt with by the people around them.

If it was a former RL legend who had passed away in his 80s after a long and happy life, a minutes applause would be fine but in these circumstances it would be wholly inappropriate IMO.

I've just sent a text to Mike and Chris Hall, the Granada Reports Sports anchors, asking them to pass on thanks to Mark Tattersall for a nice tribute to Terry. The comments that I'm reading from fans of all clubs (especially the really nice comments on redvee) makes me feel proud to support the best game in the World.

i know what is meant by the numbers for sat regarding the minutes silence, but im sure any decent suporter (from what ever club) will stop slient as they stand be it in there seat or not and give Terry the respect he deserves on sat. If people can't do that then they may aswell stay at home and rip up there match ticket as they are not needed there on saturday.

It's a crying shame that a 31yr old bloke felt so low to have to take his own life (for what ever reason) , people must show respect to the bloke
