Was he really? There were periods last season when he was very poor both in attack and defence. I have always thought that Gleeson is quite a selfish centre and he often plays for himself far too much. There are some games when his winger only gets the ball courtesy of cut out passes from O'Loughlin or Tomkins which miss out Gleeson completely.

Gleeson had 4 try assists in the whole of last season which is very poor for a centre, as a comparison Carmont had 10. When you think that Goulding scored 25 tries on that wing and Roberts also scored some then that really is poor. It is a complete myth that Gleeson set up loads of tries for his winger last season and I would be fairly certain that someone like O'Loughlin set up far more.

Gleeson is white, he'd be welcome with open arms in Australia. Plus didn't he live there for some years as a youth?

Am I the only one feeling a bit uncomfortable about this thread? Some have voiced concern about the content. Firstly it should be rumour. But the continued silence from WW must call the sacking into some doubt. With the content here then you would be slagging a current player very intrusively on his private life. As others have suggested maybe it is time to lock and move.

On the contrary, IMO, Jim. I think if he hadn't been sacked, the club would have said so by now. It was different last year when he was suspended for disciplinary reasons, in that we were told that he'd been suspended, I think.
I think the longer the silence, the more credence the rumours gain, that he's been sacked. The club and Gleeson's legal team are probably going over the details, making sure that it's all done above board etc. I would expect something to come out of the club over the next few days.

It's an internet forum just like a group of mates sitting around saying the exact same stuff as we are on here is classed as a forum as well. Yes it's all speculation at the moment but how many of these types of things do you see actually being true? About 99% of them.

Tony would you like to be in the 1%. Unlike a chat the forum is world wide and anybody can read them. Maybe some of MG's mate could visit a few members for things written :conf:

1) It has happened

2) What Gleeson did is far more than the rumours.

3) His own family are not impressed by their son's actions. They could not care a jot what is written on the net.

And you don't think that is exactly what the club will be accused of when Hock returns?
I don't think the club swept anything under any rugs DaveO, and I don't think anyone with conviction can suggest otherwise. Hock has worked hard, kept clean and is on the verge of a return. Gleeson has had warning after warning and changed nothing.
I meant merely taking him back on again will be deemed to be sweeping things under the carpet. It won't matter what articles appear in the Guardian or wherever saying how hard it was for Hock and what a good boy he's been since then. You just watch.
On the NRL suggestion, he will never in a million get a Visa. They are so strict. Good luck to the club that does take a chance, hope they have a strong coach and management.
Why would anyone in the NRL want him anyway? Bad repuation off field and coming to the end of his career on it. Good centre yes but Aussie clubs don't fly people like that form GB to Oz.

i know i have been a supporter of gleeson on here before and i would not judge any man for liking a drink or a bet as its problem for society on the whole with people getting in too far with both. I thought at the time of his drive ban he should be given the chance to learn and separate this from his professional life. If he has been sacked im dissapointed that things have went this way but as always things will move on and wigan as a club will progress and its fantastic the structure that the club has a present. it will be yesterdays news soon enough and it will be up to the loser or losers in this to count the cost!!!
