My criteria is the same as the club, a CC win and/or a GF win. Nothing more nothing less.
Best time to have injuries. Much rather have players out now than later in the season. Every club gets them BTW. Leeds, Wire and Saints facing similar problems so given our youth development we should have an advantage.

We got out of jail against Cas. We, again nearly threw away a huge lead.
Salford, London and Cas are non competitive teams so far as challenging for silverware at the end of the season, so our wins there are really a guaranteed 2 points. Me, WW, Exile and CP could probably beat these teams on our own.
Being where we are in the league at the moment isn't a true reflection of SWs ability.
I wouldn't say Cas are non-competitive. They probably won't win anything this season but will pull off the odd upset this season as they have done already so I think that was a good win given the injuries (even it it was getting out of jail) but I can see where you are coming from.
If you look at the competitive teams we have played (and I am including Cas in that which puts a slightly better slant on what I am about to say anyway) we have only got 3 points from a possible six off the better sides and have a points difference of -6 against Wire, Hudds and Cas.
Our positive points difference overall and 4 out of our 7 league points come from the big scores against the two weakest sides in the league.
So yes our current position is flattering but with the injuries I will take the points and don't mind in the slightest both Wire and Hudds slipped up so we are still in a good position in the league.
The next two games against Les Cats and Leeds will as I said previously show us how we are going against the better teams. I said the Cas, Les Cats, Leeds games would give us a good indicator so given we won v Cas lets see how we get on v the next two.

Just love this thread.
2nd in the league, drew against Wire and beaten the team that has won against Leeds and drawn against Catalan in recent weeks.
Taking into account our front row is decimated at the moment (no doubt SW's fault as well), I'll be happy with a show agaisnt the Catalan pack. Truthfully, I don't expect a win agaisnt the Dragons as they do dominate the front row and with the best will in the world, we are weak up front at the moment. Would like to see a short term signing for a no nonsense only know how to run forward prop from a national league team to help bolster the pack. Still, could be worse, we could be Stains fans!

I don't get why you "Just love this thread" when you have just been as realistic as anyone with your Les Cats prediction.
As to the front row being decimated do you think if we had the first choice pack out it would be a match for Les Cats?

I think we're a match for them now. First of all, go forward isn't all about the front row anymore, and second of all I think Dudson is good enough to compete with anyone. If we defend the middle well we can still make yards against them on the edges. Defending the middle can involve just as much of Mickey, Lockers and the second row as much as props.

Why do you think the pack is so decimated and likely to lose v Catalan who are missing Dureau. The biggest raw boned props we have are Dudson, Taylor and Spencer. They are all fully fit. Greg Burke is an Academy International Prop who adds bulk when he comes on in the second row.
SL is not the NRL and we should be cleaning up. Wigan RLFC and being a fan of Wigan RLFC was always about being the best, second place was never good enough. Strikes me several people have forgotten what Wigan RLFC are about and are quite happy to accept less than excellence.
Why not rewind and bring back Noble?
Thank christ the gang of 4 knew what Wigan RLFC stood for!

First is first and second is nowhere in my book.
IFL has set targets, Waney signed up to them when he took the job. It's simples, deliver and he stays fail and he goes - there is no room for sentiment in sport!

The pack isn't our weakest link it's our defence out wide that needs improvement. I have seen enough to convince me that we have the tools upfront to be a dominant force. Any team missing the likes of Hansen, Hock, Mossop, Eric and Preccy would struggle - not Wigan!
