I don't think a professional rugby player has a habit of conducting unprovoked attacks. He has other people to consider besides himself I.e his daughter, his livelihood, his reputation, the club he plays for, his team mates, his coach and the fans.

I'd say he was, or entertained into an altercation.

I have no idea what happened but my simplistic view is this, 2 grown blokes have a fist fight, one probably provoked the other into it as that is usually the case, you both give it a good go and winner takes all!! However if one for whatever reason introduces a weapon that can quite easily cause death (arguably so can fists) then whatever happened before sort of pales into insignificance!!
