Wigan squad for Warrington (A)
Re: Wigan squad for Warrington (A)
Bar about 20-25 minutes of the game we were so poor. So wasteful with the ball, too many penalties given away. Thought the youngsters did themselves good today, thought the more experienced players were the bad ones.
Thought keighran was abit unlucky with that challenge but it’s still bad.
Wouldn’t moan if I never saw Hampshire in a Wigan jersey again, how he didn’t collect that ball to score was absolute criminal.

Got to laugh at all the snippets online about wigans potential bans and still nothing about tai and drinkwater. They are baying for our blood. We will beat them without both and shut some mouths as we did KR.Funny theres no mention of the george williams punch that went unnoticed in their semi final. Its like the anti wigan vendetta atm.I call it fear

Also does every entrant into the Halliwell Jones need to get checked out by a sniffer dog, or just the away fans?

It was beyond that. Had he scored I think the game would have taken on a different tempo.Barney841 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 11:00 am Bar about 20-25 minutes of the game we were so poor. I agree, too much of this staying on at the moment, he took a shot to the chops and as such should go off does seem odd they're trying to protect players but sometimes at that age they need protecting from themselves.josie andrews wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 7:09 amI don’t either but Lindop should have gone off for a HIA IMOmoto748 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 1:42 am Was French the skipper? Anyway, I thought he stood up well, on both sides of the ball today. I don't share the heart-ache: Wire rested a few more than we did, but I thought Eckersley and Douglas did just fine, our failings were mostly from players with enough SL experience to know better. I don't think Keighran is a malicious player at all, but we've seen it before from him; poor technique and high shots. Played himself out of a Wembley spot; I'll bet he's feeling pretty sick.

I watched the match on Sky tv and we were appalled by the incessant comments about Wire's team of young kids! No mention of Wigan's youngsters!
The post match analysis was even worse: all about Warrington.
Disgraceful bias.

The average age of the Wire team was 23 and the average age of the Wigan team was 24. Obviously, Wire had given out several debuts and it was a much weaker side than they could put out, but I think it goes to show how much longevity there potentially is in this Wigan side for it to be considered a strong side when the average age was so similar.

Noticed the player ratings on Wigan Today, Hampshire and Byrne both lowest with 4 out of 10, not sure that Hampshire was worth that.
Byrne on for 22 minutes 2 carries, then didn't come back on, presumably Peet was then saving him for Wembley, no idea why though. Perhaps he wants to make the game even more difficult for us, by Byrne being sent off and then playing for most of the match with 12 men
I hope I am wrong, but we definitely can't afford stupid penalties etc. next week.

Very much enjoying the desperation of fans of other clubs to a) make a big deal of how poor we were yesterday and b) how dirty we are / how many of our players should get banned. They are terrified that by Saturday evening we will have won two trophies and be joint top of the league with a game in hand without having got out of second gear and with a young team, conveyor belt of youth talent and billionaire owner we could become dominant again. Look forward to hearing none of it is legitimate because we still benefit from turning fully pro a few weeks before everyone else 32 years ago.
We were poor yesterday but Marshall’s toe stays infield in minute 2 or Hampshire touches down the kick in the 2nd half we probably win comfortably. The game was a hiding to nothing, the players were obviously saving themselves for next week and were always going to. Warrington on the other hand had lots of eager young kids with nothing to lose. Having said that each of our 5 main absentees are among the best in the comp in their positions, so calling us full strength or even near to isn’t really true is it?
