Sam hasn't done anything wrong but the club has been unprofessional. It offered him a deal to re-sign in 2015 and then decided it wanted to change the nature of that deal. And while the statement about Les Cats making an illegal approach is no doubt true just how naive are those running the club to think this won't happen?
How did they change the nature of the deal.

Thought the deal was 3 years and 4th if the club wanted to carry on with the deal.
They wanted him to play for us in 2019 (and beyond) but were not prepared to pay what they agreed for 2019 when he signed in 2015.
If they had just said "we aren't taking the option up" fair enough but as I have said several times now as they wanted him to stay so offering less money for 2019 is acting in bad faith. Should have exercised the option on the agreed terms for 2019 and then negotiated for 2020 and beyond.

We don't know that that wasn't suggested to Sam, and he said no? So yes, we could have hung on for another year, but then he'd be gone, and the option for Hardaker would have disappeared by then?

Ok so coming home richer from aus was the doing of nz warriors they chose to pay him what they did

He didn’t live up to expectations however again the expectations were in part caused by the price tag he was given by the club yes he could of taken less but what sane person would do that

He was a second shot by the club who chose to sign an injured player they knew would not be fit for at least 1/3 of the 3 year contract he was given - again this is the clubs choice what is he supposed to say? No I would take money while I can’t play? The club chose to pay him those wages and offer him a 3 year contract

If the club chose to wrap him cotton wool again that’s down to the club - I don’t see this being true and since year two of his contract I’d like to see a comparison of games played vs lockers who’s loyalty isn’t questioned

He didn’t leave when fit he is leaving when his contract is up Wigan had an option but chose not to take it and offer him less money so it’s not like he’s said I’m fit now I’m off his contract ended his fitness is irrelevant

He has taken a contract at a lesser club who have offered him more but what’s to say with Sam in the team that team can’t do better next year? Either way as a free agent he is welcome to chose to play for whoever he likes

Lastly your point about choosing to play for Wigan for half the price is ridiculous if rugby league was your sole income you would simply have to weigh up how to pay your bills ideally that comes from your preferred club but not always you have to roll with the punches and do what’s best for you

Where is the link to corroborate this please?

I cannot remember him ever being resigned with such a serious injury or even that there were doubts he might play so few games when he signed from NZW

If I remember correctly, Wigan's problem was identical to that with David Vaeliki in that the player was signed without having/completing a full and proper medical and the injury he received playing for NZW had not been treated correctly by the NZW medical team

Yes. That was Wigan's mistake in rushing into resigning him with Leeds and Wire allegedly showing interest in him at that time

It was a shock to all fans that the player was practically ruled out for most of the first year of his deal and I seriously doubt the club signed him with the intention of only playing a few games

You are making out the club genuinely signs crocks just to fill the treatment room

I'm a better fan than you
Because I don't "Boo"!!!

Yes I bloody know transfer fees do not count on the salary cap for those illiterates that need it explaining to them because they assume everyone is as thick as they are

Perhaps ST voted to remain in Europe? :D
I wonder if SW did and he's off as well?

I reckon he'll be back in the UK after 2 years because of homesickness.

No its not bad faith. Contract was for 3 years with a one year option. That is a contractual legal agreement. The club wanted him to stay for another 4 years on the 3rd best contract ever in the club. Its not like he was going from 300k to 50k for example.

Seems the club is always at fault for you. Even last week you moaned that the club were not offering him a 4 year deal like Catalan. But they did he just wanted to experience the life abroad again. For his sake I hope he plays more than he has since 2013 or Catalan will want him gone as well.

Rads and IL better have something good up their sleeves such as Wane to Catalan and Edwards to Wigan with Thurston or Shaun Johnson as the new marquee player.
Interesting, but you'll need to wake up soon as you well know! :eusa18:
