Lockers is a one off.
As for Sam, he's also got a loyalty to himself and I wish him luck in whatever decision he makes.
I think fans need to wake up. The season we nearly went down I was lucky enough to get Lockers and Hock to come to school do a presentation and a Q&A session. In the Q&A we asked Lockers would he leave Wigan if they are relegated. He said he would have no choice but to do so.

But he would not have the choice as with the cap in the lower division we would not be able to afford to keep him. Its slightly different from a player who is well paid by us and SKY who goes to the NRL for a bigger pay day. Than a player who would have to take a reduction to stay at us if we went down.

True Gimble but can players truly be loyal when sport is such a short terms career. Have they ever been? Did Wigan want Ellery, Edwards, Lydon (played the best rugby of his career for Eastern Suburbs BTW), Goodway, Skerrett, Hampson, Gregory, Offiah, Gill, MORE? to go Down UNDER or was it to keep them happy. Remember some of these players were on fantastic money at Wigan and still wanted more. Scenario? Union full pro, Hanley would have left Wigan, as would Edwards and many more.

We have happily been taking advantage of Union for decades and recently before it turned, the poor Aus $ to £, overseas money shams to take players from Union from Aus. We reap what we sow and there is no point people crying about it.

What people should ask is why are fans fed so much false information and then expected to be gullible fools and continue believing the 'spin' garbage clubs feed them, even better buy your blessed season ticket (Gotta keep WW Happy ;) ). Clubs take the P out of their fans and none more so than Wigan!!

FOOTNOTE TO A PREVIOUS POST; Liam Farrell did have a 30K option to sign for Union at 16. He decided not to. Wise choice IMO.

I agree all this crap re: Sam is a joke.

Apparently it will get announced after the CC final. Which IL hopes it will give him time to conjure up a half arsed replacement. Problem is and this has to be asked to him by any journalist at the press conference why did you let him go after 2 years of a 5 year deal. Especially you promised he would be here for minimum 3.

TBH i am beginning to question IL motives all this nonsense the youths will come through and replace players. SO a 17-19 year old is going to replace Sam Tomkins or an over the hill NRL player. HOW the hell will hi spin that. It seems that we have a sensible business man as an owner who wants to beak even. That might work for the balance sheet but he is balancing the sheet by selling his best assets.

Mossop, Hock and Sam all sold this season. 2 years ago we lost Joel and last season he let Lima go early. IL seems to bend backwards in letting players go and its showing we are no heading backwards and come next season we will be mid table and nothing more. We can not carry on letting players leave and pay the good money we do game in game out and for some going home and away, with sod all hope of winning anything. But we will break even.

Did IL do an awsome job in sorting us out or did he get lucky in getting Madge in. Looking at it now and long term it was Madge that made IL look good. IL deserves credit for getting Madge in the club.

But looking at it long term i can see us struggling next season with whoever is the head coach with an owner who will let his best players go so longs he gets some money for them. Good business man but a poor owner of a professional club.

I do not think that when IL chooses to sell the club it will have actually cost him a penny and in return he has received all his sporting dreams that are unobtainable in any other way.

Madge? According to form Madge was not ILs original choice. He had this hair brained idea of pairing Eddie Jones with Andy Faz; Stephen Kearney was strongly liked to. I think he got lucky with Madge. IL can do no wrong with some fans especially on places like RL fans but did he achieve anything at London? has he achieved anything at Oxford.

Who was more important to Wigan's success IL or Madge?

I know the answer and the time thereafter has proven my point of view. IL thinks youngsters can replace anyone / everyone despite far better judges like John Monie always arguing otherwise. Whats more, IL will screw youngsters because they should be grateful that they are living the dream as he puts it!

He will also pay them crap money whilst having them sign long term contracts so they will eventually look for a better deal elsewhere and he then recoups any money he has out laid in the first place by getting a transfer fee!!

Business man first & foremost

Wigan Warriors fan in a distant second IMO
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

No different at other club's but they do not produced as many better players than Wigan.

As Paul Cullen once said, "Its my job to pick up the scraps unable to get into the Wigan first team squad"

Good business for the club and indeed the game. We get the money and others get a better player.

Nothing wrong with that as long as we make the right decisions on who to keep and who to let go.
