Mike, I keep getting a blank page and the only way to resolve it is go out of the site and go back in. Can't seem to see a pattern although was wondering if somebody is replying to the topic I'm trying to access and this was causing it? was just wondering if anybody else keeps getting this problem.

Its something to do with the server segfaulting. If you keep hitting reload, it should eventually display the page. It is an intermittent fault that maybe fixed if I upgrade the server software. I am looking into doing that later today hopefully.

I upgraded the server software, which was far more complicated than I had hoped for. I though for a second that I wouldn't be able to get the site back up for hours!

I hope it fixes the blank page issues we have been having. Fingers crossed.

There is nothing in any of the error logs either.

Sorry about that. I'm on my way to perpignan so haven't been able to monitor as regulalry as usual. As always, these problemsd occur when -km on holdiay!

My friend at the company who runs the hardware informs me that our server was powered down for some reason. We did have a problem a few days earlier when spamers were using the server to send unsolicited mail. This got fixed thanks to my friend at the server company, but was very much my fault. When I get home (after our certain victory in france) I will try to find out what happened and if the two were related at all. Apologies to all for the outage.

Why whenever you quote the Australian or American dollar symbol - $

You do not see the resulting shift number 4 pressed - but a whole load of gobbledygook? (as above )
