We've got Silverwood on Tuesday, not best, but better than either Klein or Ganson.

I would take Silverwood and Smith over the rest.

I reckon Silverwood is the best in the SL, also Smith is quite good.

I got as far as reading the second post and didn't go any further
I didn't have a problem with his performance. The game was a battle of skill, class, discipline and composure, we got hammered on every front and when you lack in the latter two the fans will always get on the back of the referee.
Withers knew exactly what he was doing when he got sin-binned. He most probably saved a try, so it was probably worth it, we were in the race then. I didn't see Saints do anything that really warranted sin-binning. Withers' was a clear cut, 'no-other-option' sin-binning. It's just hard to see past the hatred for Saints and the disappointment of having your team being made to look like under 15s.

Not everyone!
I wholeheartedly agree with your other sentiments.

I thought we were rubbish, I have said that BUT being a massochist I have watched the game 3 times now and Ashley was a factor in the defeat and his glaring errors should see him dropped from SL.
Firstly, Saints first try came from a blatant forward pass and secondly the Fassavolu try came from the incorrect awarding of a penalty when Wellens lost the ball-.
I rejoiced this weekend listening to Phil Gould berate modern referees. He rightly argued that he is sick of hearing referees bellow movement and various other phrases or try to instruct players during the game.

A.K. was not going to bin Googie Withers until Cunningham waived all his fingers at him to stick him in the bin, he was clearly influenced by the player.
It was an individual break and as such the stains player had little support, the dummy half was slow to reach him and the stains man as such was in no hurry to play the ball. Cunningham's professionalism managed to sway the inexperienced (for this type of game) A.K. who was not about to reach for the card until the intervention.

What do you suggest they do? Remain silent? Let the players get on with the game themselves? Penalise technical offences (e.g. offside / interference) without warning? You'd have mayhem!

Haha, do you really believe referees take advice from players? As soon as the whistle is blown the decision is made, regardless of what the crowd, offending player or opposition say or do.

Whether or not the try would have been scored you cannot argue that it was a professional foul with the intention of slowing down the Saints attack whilst we were at 6s and 7s.
